"Soda?" I asked again. He still didn't answer. He just stood there, shaking slightly.
"Soda, come on, sit down." I said, pulling him by his arm very lightly. Steve and I got him to sit down in a chair. He immediately broke down.
"Why did I trust 'er?" He asked, "I'm so stupid."
"No, no you're not. It's her fault." I said, rubbing his back.
"What happened, how'd ya find out?" He asked. I looked at Steve, who nodded as approval to tell him the whole story.
I explained, in full detail. Including what she said to me.
"What is she gonna do to ya?" He asked.
"Don't worry 'bout me. Watch out for yourself right now." I said.
Then the bell rang. Someone had come into the store. Since I hadn't changed yet, I decided to take care of it.
I saw Sandy, storming over to the desk. I gulped, not wanting to alert the boys in the back. I could deal with it.
"What do ya want?" I asked, trying not to sound annoyed.
"Let me talk to Soda, now." She demanded.
"Sorry, but no. He doesn't wanna see ya." I fake pouted. She then punched me, so quick I barely saw her fist until it was in my face.
"Oh, you've done it now, asscheeks." I said, jumping over the counter and shoving her. (Bear with me for this nickname, please.)
Steve heard the commotion and came out to investigate. I was practically on top of Sandy, while she was trying to get me off. She was screaming cuss words at me while I pinned her down. I saw Steve walk over and I knew it was time to stop.
"Steve, thank god. She went insane! Get Soda!" Sandy exclaimed. She was lying through her teeth and it made me sick. I dusted off my DX uniform and walked over to Steve.
"Sandy, I think you should leave." Steve crossed his arms. Soda must've heard the commotion because out of the corner of my eye, I saw him walk in.
Sandy stared at the two of us until she saw Soda. She turned her attention to him. Sandy started to walk past and walked over to him.
Soda put his arm up to stop her from getting closer. I saw his tear stained face and I could tell it took a lot of strength for him to do this.
"No, Sandy. I think-I think ya can leave." Soda said. I could tell he was choking back tears.
"Soda I-" Sandy started to say.
"Just leave. Get outta here." Soda said, getting mad, but I could see right through him. He was hurting. I could tell.
"Sodapop Curtis," Sandy started, we all let her speak. "I am glad I cheated on you." Sandy said, looking at Soda with cold eyes.
"Leave Sandy." I said, standing in between her and Soda. Steve walked over and stood next to his buddy. She gave us all the stink eye and left. She strutted off like she was a popular girl.
Soda started to cry again. Steve and I pulled him into a hug to calm him down. We all got our stuff, locked up the DX, and started our walk home.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When we got back home, Soda went into his room to change and he didn't come back out. Steve had gone home to change, but after, his dad kicked him out again. He was going to have to stay the night with us.
I was making dinner, but I was worried about Soda. I knew it was normal to push people away like this, but he just never seemed like that type.
Darry walked in and shut the door. He must've noticed something wrong.
"What's up guys, Steve's never quiet." He said. Steve and I exchanged looks before I spoke up.
"Sandy cheated on Soda again." I said, looking away and back at the dinner I was making.
"Where is he?" Darry asked.
"In 'is room." I said. "He hasn't come out all day." I said. He nodded and walked towards Soda's room. I started getting plates set. I put out six because I had a feeling Johnny would be eating here tonight.
Johnny and Pony walked in. They had a lot of energy and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. They looked at Steve, who was sitting silently on the couch. Then they looked at me, silently cooking.
"Is everythin' alright?" Pony asked.
"Sandy cheated again." Steve muttered, but I could hear him. Then it was silent. It was an awkward silence.
"Come on ya'll, I just finished making dinner." I said to break the awkward silence. "Johnny, I had a feelin' you'd be stayin', there's a plate."
After a few minutes, Darry and Soda came out of the room and joined us for dinner.
"Darry! Soda! This is to die for! Ya gotta try it!" Pony exclaimed.
"Willow, ya made this?" Darry asked after taking a bite.
"Yeah." I said, nervously. I was getting too much attention. I didn't like it.
"This is really good." He complimented.
"Thanks." I said, smiling.
"Your food makes me happier somehow." Soda said, smiling at me. I felt myself blushing slightly.
"Seriously, how do ya make food this good? Thanks so much!" Soda exclaimed. He was already acting like his normal self again.
"Yeah, thanks Will." Pony said.
"No problem." I said.
"Maybe ya could give Soda some tips." Pony joked. Soda glared at him.
Steve was happy after he saw Soda getting in a better mood. Soon, he was back to his jokey self. Johnny just stayed quiet most of the time, but I could tell he was enjoying dinner.
"Well, Ima head out, see ya'll tomorrow." Johnny said, but I remembered something.
"Johnny, it's gonna be stormy, are ya parents gone?" I asked.
"Nah, I'll be fine though." Johnny shrugged.
"Johnny, how 'bout ya stay the night." Darry said.
"no, I don't wanna be a pest and all." Johnny said.
"Don't be silly, ya aren't a pest." I said. Johnny nodded, knowing he wasn't going to win this fight.
"Steve, ya got the couch and Johnny, ya can have my bed, I can sleep on the floor." I said.
"No, I can't let ya do that." Johnny said.
"I don't mind, really-" Soda cut me off.
"Just stay with me, I'm sure Pony can share a bed with Johnny tonight." Soda said. (They aren't dating by the way. I never really liked that ship.) I blushed.
"If it's okay with everyone else." I shrugged, hoping that I wouldn't have to. I didn't want to blush near him or talk in my sleep. I say very weird crap in my sleep. Just my luck, they all agreed to the arrangements.
"Enjoy sleeping with my brother." Pony whispered in my ear.
"Ya agreed to this so we could be together." I accused. Pony proudly nodded.
"Son of a bitch." I mumbled. Pony smiled at me.
