The gang is fun to be around. They are nice and funny, but it was getting too much for me, so I went into the kitchen where nobody else was. I loved their company, I really did. It's just that I am not used to the sound of a lot of people hanging out.
I started thinking about Sandy, she's been mentioned a lot, but I don't know who she is. I've heard she's a bitch and a cheater, so pieced together that she was probably the girl who broke Soda's heart.
The gang seemed to bring her up a lot. Just saying that she isn't worth the time and from what I heard, she isn't.
I was sitting down on one of the chairs at the table and took a deep breath. I wanted to go back out there, it's just that social situations scare me a little bit. I think of myself as extroverted because talking to people I am close to is fun, but talking to other people doesn't really come easy to me. I love talking to people I'm close to, I just don't like meeting new people. It's weird. I can't really tell what I gain energy from.
There was a knock on the doorway. I wasn't expecting it so it startled me. I was just lost in my thoughts.
Ponyboy entered the kitchen.
"How're ya doin'?" He asked, sitting down in one of the chairs next to me.
"Good, just a little overwhelmed is all." I explained.
"Yeah, I get that." He said.
"I really do wanna talk to them, but they're loud and energetic." I explained. I can't help how loudness makes me nervous, I wish I could. It made me upset at myself.
"Hey, don't worry 'bout it. It'll take time, but you'll be able to be comfortable with them." Pony said, offering me some hope I gladly took. I nodded and smiled, looking him right in the eyes the whole time.
Usually when talking, eye contact unsettles me. It has always scared me because of my parents, and I haven't been able to look people in the eyes. I try, but I fail.
Pony and I were both interrupted by loud yelling. Sounded like Steve yelling at somebody. Pony and I both looked at each other, before going silent to eavesdrop.
"Are ya crazy?! What's wrong with ya?!" I heard Steve yell.
"She apologized! I love her!" Soda yelled back.
"Is he talkin' about Sandy?" Pony asked quietly. He was definitely talking to himself.
"Sandy, the bitch I heard about?" I asked, confused.
"Yeah her." Pony responded.
"Soda! She fucked another dude, got pregnant, and moved to Florida! She didn't tell you until she was about to leave!" Steve yelled.
"She told me because she knew she could be honest! She's back for a second chance!" Soda yelled back at him. Soda was too nice. He always had hope that everybody had a good side. I felt bad.
I'm the opposite, I believe everybody has a bad side. Honestly everybody does, very few don't act on it in any way.
"Soda! You're insane!" I had a bad feeling about this, so I stood up and went back into the living room. Pony was behind me.
"Ya'll just don't get it!" Soda yelled before he ran out the front door.
I looked around, looking for approval to follow him. Everybody just stared at the door as he ran, I decided to follow.
"Willow, Socs will jump ya, don't go." Pony said, grabbing onto my arm.
"I won't leave him alone, not out there. I can take a beating, he can't." I said. Pony still wouldn't let go.
"I'm sorry." I said. He looked at me with a confused look as I stomped on his foot, causing him to lose his grip on me. I ran out the door after Soda.
I needed to go as fast as I could. My right ankle, the one I injured a while back, started hurting as I ran. I was beginning to wonder if it was even fully healed. Is it just weak, or did it never fully heal? That's not important right now though.
I heard him screaming in the distance and I got scared. Don't tell me there are Socs. I ran in the direction of his scream, and I saw Soda fighting off five Socs at once
I ran behind the one who looked like he initiated the attack and pounced on him. I got him on the ground and punched him. I then felt a sharp pain in my side, causing me to weaken and fall to the ground. Even with that, I managed to put up a good fight. With Soda helping me, we fought them off and were left alone.
Soda fell to the ground next to me, looking shocked. I felt so weak. I looked to see what was causing the pain. On the ground was my blood coming out from a stab wound. They got me pretty good.
"Oh my god. Willow, are ya okay?" Soda asked.
"Yeah, the stab wound is just for looks." I joked, trying to make everything positive. It didn't really work for Soda nor I. I slowly began to sit up, but Soda didn't let me.
"I'm sorry, let's get ya home." Soda said, picking me up and getting me on his back.
"Soda, ya don't have to do this, I'm fine." I said, feeling guilty for making him do this.
"Nah, it's fine." He said.
"Are ya sure?" I asked.
"I know ya want me to complain so ya can tell me to put ya down. It's fine." He said.
Soda carried me all the way back to his house. I was feeling guilty the whole time, and I didn't shut up about it. No matter how many times Soda told me he didn't mind.
The door was closed, so Soda had to open it with me still on his back. To be honest, I didn't want to get off. He was kind of cute and I think I kind of like him.
I don't want to get in the way of him and Sandy because of the stories I was told. I heard if a girl got in the way of her and Soda, she would absolutely destroy their reputation. I didn't want that.
Darry opened the door and his eyes went wide. He opened the screen door for us and Soda carried me in.
"I can walk now." I complained, even though I didn't actually want to get off.
"I guess you're right." He said, slowly setting me down. Damn it. God, what the hell is wrong with me?
"Oh my god, Will, are ya alright?" Pony asked, looking and sounding scared. I've never been called Will before, but I didn't mind it.
"Don't worry, I'm fine." I said, getting short of breath. I don't know if it was the pain, me realizing what actually happened, or it was the blood loss. I hope it isn't the third.
"Darry, we gotta act fast." Soda told Darry with urgency in his voice.
"Pony?" I asked.
"What is it?" He asked.
"Sorry for steppin' on your foot." I apologized. He chuckled a little, causing me to laugh myself.
"It's okay." He said, hiding a smile from what I said. I smiled, causing him to smile.
"Pony, I'll be fine." I said, trying to keep him from getting upset. Although, I didn't know if I was trying to convince him or myself. Maybe both.
"Steve, can ya get me the supplies?" Darry asked and Steve nodded.
"What happened?" Darry asked. Soda started to explain. I couldn't listen due to the pain feeling so severe, so I didn't hear what he said. I was then overcome with darkness.
