Chapter Ten

*Emma POV*

First stop on the break was the little girls room. Steph and myself had a pact that during the investigation that if either of us needed a bathroom break then we would go together. There was no way I'd go in alone and Steph was exactly the same. Who'd want to see a ghost when you were taking a pee alone. 'How you feeling hun?' I asked as I washed my hands and checked my make-up.

'Mainly nervous about this place when it goes lights out.' I nodded in agreement as I unclipped my bangs and removed the band that was holding my hair in its pony tail. I ran my fingers through it before putting on a black slouch beanie hat that I had brought along for when it got cold. 'How about you?'

'I'm ok now that we are finally getting on with it, I think the anticipation is the worst part. I'm dying for a coffee though.' With that said we left the bathroom and re-joined the rest of the group. We both poured ourselves a hot drink. I noticed that Matt and Padge were no longer with the group. 'Well that's just charming. Be back in a few.' I nodded to the door. Steph nodded as she went and sat with Yvette and the others.

I looked out the door and saw both the guys just lighting up and standing with their backs to me overlooking the grounds. I grinned to myself. I tiptoed quietly on the grass towards them, taking care not to tread on the gravel.

'Nah dude, definitely not in that way, she must have just go the wrong impression.' I caught the end of a conversation Padge was having with Matt. Matt nodded to him. I made my move onto the gravel making it crunch really loudly from behind them. They both let out a yell before turning around as fast as they could. Now I understood why Moose was laughing so much earlier, their faces were just so funny.

'Gotcha!' I laughed. Padge looked to Matt and then the both flung to grab me, luckily I was far enough to run away from them quick enough. They chased me for a few steps before giving up, knowing they weren't going to get me. 'Man, I got you guys good.'

'You know revenge is a bitch' Padge sparked up another smoke after he dropped one when he got surprised. He also lit one to me and handed it to me as I walked back to them both.

'Aww come on. You guys did forget about me when you came out for your smokes. That wasn't nice, so call it my payback. Jeesh it's getting so cold now. Need to hurry up and get back to my coffee' I chuntered to myself as I took a deep inhale, trying hard not to start shivering. Without a word Matt put his arms around me, at first i was suspicious that they were going to get their own back on me, but he just pulled me into a hug. I couldn't stop a small smile from appearing.

Once back in the Dining room I wrapped my chilled fingers around the warm coffee mug and took a big sip, letting it warm me up. I sat down in the empty chair next to Steph's. 'Crap, hun did you remember to call Jack? He will be really worried about you.' Jay looked over intensely to Steph after he heard what I said.

'Oh shit. I completely forgot. Be back in a tick.' Amd with that she grabbed her back and went out of the door.

'Who's Jack?' Jay asked outright the moment she left the room. I gave him a sly grin.

'Oh Jack is just some important guy in her life who would be worried sick if she didn't call him.' His face fell, poor guy.

'Is it her fella?' Moose asked joining in the conversation, I noticed some other pairs of ears were also listening in.

'Nope, not her boyfriend, someone even more important.' Now faces turned to shock.

'You mean she is married? I didn't see no ring on her finger.' Jay was shocked.

'Don't be daft, she isn't married. It's funny how you jump to conclusions, Jack is her big brother.' There was a loud sigh of relief. 'She gives him a call every investigation night just to let him know any gossip.'

'So she is single then.'

'Well if I've just said she hasn't got a boyfriend and isn't married I'm kind of guessing that it would be a yes to the single part.' Jay looked as though he was about to fist pump the air as he started to smile. I gave him a warning look. 'I'll say this once, you fuck with her head or heart you won't know what's hit you' I smiled giving him my warning.

'Anyway, any hidden boyfriend or husband in your life?' Padge now joined in the conversation. I shook my head.

'Nope, no skeletons in my closet. The rest of you involved with any one as it were?'

'I've got my lady, Rosie.' Moose grinned. 'She's my beauty.' I couldn't help but Aww at him.

'Single and ready to mingle' I shot another warning look to Jay who quickly shut up.

'Staying single for a good while I can tell you. No offence but sometime you women ain't half a pain in the arse.' Padge said sipping his drink.

'Oi, we aren't all that bad.' Steph arrived back in the room in time to catch the conversation. 'His phone was switched off so I just left him a voicemail' I nodded as she sat down next to me.

'Also single.' Matt said putting the conversation back on track.

'What a lead singer in a well known band as good looking as you is single. Pfft I don't buy it.' Steph always had a way with words.

'That's exactly my problem. They all want me because I am a lead singer of a band. I can't be doing with shallow women like that.'

'Referring back to my previous statement, not all women are the same. Just as we know not all men are the same. In the few years we have been friends a few have come and gone and we haven't given up hope yet.'

'Hey, Babe you've always got me as a back up plan' I winked and we both burst out laughing. 'So are any of you tempted to go it alone tonight?'

'Jay has already said that he would.' Steph said.

'There was a condition to that, the condition being that you are coming with me.' She looked slightly concerned. 'I told you I will keep you safe and look after you.' She blushed slightly as she nodded. 'That's us doing a lone visual then' Jay clapped his hands.

'Emz if im braving it, you have to do it too. We have the spare handheld cams'

'Fuck that, there is no way I am going alone anywhere in this place.' My heart quickened at the thought of being left alone. That was my big no no during filming.cams

'You don't have to be alone, but you have to do one if I am.' I gave her a look which screamed bitch (in a non mean way)

'I'll go with you.' Matt said. 'We will do a visual like those two apart from it will be a million times better.'

'What ever Matt you ain't got shit on me and the babe.' Jay said playfully defensive as he placed an arm over Stephs shoulder.

'Go on Emz, do it. It might be fun.' She begged. I thought about it for a few minutes before turning to Matt.

'Alright, i'm in. But you cannot leave my side.' I said with a sigh.

'Never' he smiled making me melt slightly.
