*Steph POV*
At the house Jay was actually really helpful in helping me check that all the cameras were ready to go and took a walk round the rooms with me to check that the sensors were all still in place.
"You know, this place takes on a completely different feeling once the lights go out. It's not as intimidating in the light." He said as we walked up the stairs to the upper floors.
"Most of that feeling is your senses kicking in, like your hearing and sight. They both work double time in the dark and make the smallest thing seem big and then of course in our mind we make things out to be something they might not be." I explained as I tried to reach one of the sensors without the step ladder but failed miserably.
"I'll remember to tell you that later then when you get the spooks." Jay teased as he shook his head at my failing attempts to reach before walking over and lifting me up so that I could. I giggled as I adjusted the sensor.
"Thanks" I smiled at him as he placed me down onto my feet, still holding onto my waist.
"Anytime." I found myself getting lost in his eyes, my heart fluttered as he gazed back into my own. "You look beautiful tonight, not that you don't the rest of the time, just tonight you look really beautiful." I blushed. He reached up to my face and tucked a few strands of loose hair that were on my face and brushed them behind my ear gently. I looked down, feeling how red my cheeks were, I couldn't help feeling a little shy. Jay placed a finger under my chin and tilted my head to look at him. "I really like you Steph, I know we've only known each other a short time but I honestly really like you and feel for you." I felt a little faint. He explained perfectly how I felt towards him at that moment. I didn't know what to say and I think he caught on. "I mean I just wanted you to know, it doesn't have to mean anything if you don't want it to." He sounded a little disappointed.
"No, no, Jay, it's not that I don't want it to mean anything I was just kind of shocked to hear you say that, that's all. For the record I feel the same about you." His smile grew wider.
"Can I...?" He looked at my lips and I knew what he meant. I nodded. There were so many butterflies dancing in my stomach it was insane. The closer he came to me the more nervous I became but I couldn't deny myself what I wanted. I leaned in to meet him and our lips met in a soft, gentle kiss. One of his hands moved to the back of my head, the other to my back as he pulled me closer to him, deepening the kiss.
"Honey, we're home!" Emz yelled out as the main doors opened. We both pulled away, each letting out a small sigh as our foreheads rested against each other's. Jay pulled away placing a small kiss on my head before offering me his hand so that we could join the now complete group.
Walking in the room with Jay following close behind I walked over to Emma and joined her as she was pouring a coffee, I glanced back at Jay to see him giving the thumbs up to Matt, who just gave him a nod and a smile. I shook my head slightly and chuckled.
"What's up chicken?" Emma asked as she handed me a drink.
I shrugged. "Can I join you when you go out for a smoke?" She looked at me slightly puzzled but agreed so we headed out.
"So come on, spill." She looked to me with raised brows as she sparked up.
"And what makes you think that I have anything to spill?" I asked innocently.
"Oh, please! One, the little grin on your face when you and Jay appeared in the room at the same time. Two, your cheeks were as red as anything. Three, Jay was looking all pleased for himself and numero fiveo is that you never come out with me while I smoke unless you want a gossip. So now you can stop playing dumb and speak."
"Whatever." She simply stared at me. "Chilly out tonight isn't it?"
"Niemo, seriously. I can put two and two together you know."
"What do you get? Three?" I teased.
"Fine, I'll just go in and ask dear old Jay what the pair of you have been up to then."
"Nuh uh, you don't have to do that. If you must know Jay admitted that he has feelings for me and then there was a kiss." I blushed.
"Aww what! That's amazing!" She clapped her hands happily. "Did you tell him you felt the same?" I nodded. "Suppose best go have words with him then."
"No honestly you don't need to. We haven't even mentioned anything about a relationship or anything like that."
"Ahh right. Well still that's exciting." She put out her smoke. "And don't worry before you ask, I'll keep hush." I was thankful as the last thing I wanted was for everyone to know, I only told Emma as I knew she would have figured it out sooner or later.
"Here you girls are. Come on we are going to get set up in the military room." Yvette pulled us both inside after her.
In the military room six chairs had been placed around a table on which was the Ouija board. I grabbed my camera and made sure it was ready to use as the others entered taking their seats around the table. I felt so nervous knowing Jay was in the room.
"Can I used the wheelchair instead of one of the chairs?" Jay asked as he was about to sit down.
"I don't see why not." Karl agreed as he pulled away the normal wooden chair so Jay could wheel the wheelchair into the empty spot in between Emma and Yvette.
"You sure you don't want to join us Steph?" Moose asked.
"Nah, won't catch me doing one of those, I'm happy with my camera." My eyes moved from looking at Moose to Jay, who was looking right back at me. I didn't know whether to carry on looking at him or divert my gaze. I went for the latter and quickly turned my attention to Karl who was talking to myself and Stu about being ready to start filming once he turned out the lights. Padge flicked on his torch in prep and tucked it into his beanie so that his hands would be free for the Ouija, Emma placed hers onto the table so that it illuminated the board. Karl flipped the switch as the room was plunged into darkness. I hit the record button and we were ready to go.
Ten minutes passed with everyone asking out for the spirits to communicate through the board but so far we got nothing. Occasionally some of us heard random creaks and bangs from other areas in the building but nothing from in the room in which we were stood. Sometimes this part made the job suck a little, with all the waiting for something to happen.
Jay leapt up from the wheelchair making everyone jump. "I swear something hit me on the back. You didn't touch me did you?"
"I've been stood over here the whole time. Stu and Karl haven't moved either."
"I'm not kidding, it felt like someone patted me on the back." He calmed a little and sat back in the chair. "If that was you touching me, can you do it again?" A loud tapping came from beneath the table, almost immediately after Jay spoke. I pointed the camera down under it just to ensure that it wasn't coming from anybody moving their feet, which it wasn't. The tapping started then stopped and started again in a sort of sporadic pattern until after few minutes in ceased completely.
"Hello, anybody there still?" Emma called out after a small silence. A loud bang made everyone let out a yell. Jay just started to laugh.
"I dropped my torch" He said almost innocently. I walked over to him and slapped him upside the head.
"Idiot."
