"Wake up losers, it's Christmas!"
Cassie groaned at the sudden light inflating the room, hitting her face. She turned her head, burying her face in her pillow. She could hear Skyler next to her curse and her body move as she too, turned to hide her face from the sunlight. She could hear the bed softly creak and a body fell in the gap between her and Sykler with a huff. Cassie turned her head and opened her eyes to see Dana smashed between them, a wide grin on her face and her hair widely spread over both their mattresses – a few strands on Skyler's face who moved her head, glaring at her friend and blew away the strands on her face.
Cassie couldn't help but laugh, stretching her body before sitting up. Grace was already on her feet, taking over a tray from Bella's hands.
"I'm gonna get the second one and once I'm back, you're all better be at least on your asses, ready for the Secret Santa," said Bella, vanishing back into the hallway. Dana turned away from Cassie, facing Skyler.
"Come on Sky, no sleepyhead behaviour on Christmas morning. You know the drill," Dana poked her face as she spoke.
"Shut up," mumbled Skyler, slapping her hand before turning away. Grace shook her head with a grin, putting the tray down on the bed. She grabbed her guitar, sitting down at Skyler's other side. Dana sat up with a grin and Cassie raised her eyebrows in amusement. Grace's hand flew over the strings, fast and hard, the guitar answering with loud and crooked sounds. Skyler tried to slap her hand in her direction but Cassie jumped up, catching her hand and tugging, turning her body around so Skyler was laying on her back. She stared at the ceiling with a straight face as Bella re-entered the room with a second tray.
"I hate all of you."
Dana helped Skyler up in a seating position and Grace was fast to grab one of the hot cups of tea – the one with sugar and cream - from the second tray and handing it to her tired friend. Cassie watched in amusement, leaning against the bed and the cup of coffee meant for her already in her hands.
"You love us," Bella said matter-of-factly, putting down a plate filled with chocolate chip and cranberry cookies between them on the mattresses on the ground –right in front of Skyler. She sat down next to Cassie, handing Dana her own tea – black – and Grace her cup of hot chocolate.
Skyler stretched, her body only moving as far as it has to to grab her wand laying close to her mattress.
"Accio Secret Santa present," she said and held out her hand as a small package flew into her hand. Grace raised her eyebrows while Bella shook her head with a grin. "What?"
"Only moving as much as you have to," mused Grace, getting up to put away her guitar and grabbing another package from her bag.
"You're all just jealous because I can legally use magic and you have to get up to grab stuff."
"Sure thing," said Dana, clapping Skyler on the shoulder while she got up herself. "Don't forget that I already turned seventeen, too."
Grace sat back next to Skyler, Dana grabbed the present from her bag as well as Cassie's and Bella's, sitting back down on Grace's other side, handing the girl's leaning on the bed the packages.
"So," Skyler said, grabbing a cookie, "who starts?"
"The hostess," said Dana matter-of-factly, taking a sip from her tea.
"Fine with me," said Bella and moved forward with a grin, focusing on her cup to not spill over her tea as she handed the present in her hands to Grace. She smiled widely, taking the present. Cassie watched as Grace carefully pulled away the paper – she could never. In her opinion, ripping apart the wrapping paper was one of the best parts when getting a present. Grace though handled the paper with care, folding it and putting it aside before focusing on the actual present. Her eyes lit up immediately, though.
