Snow was falling from the sky, flying through the air in a small and beautiful dance until the flakes found their end on the grounds of Hogwarts. Cassie glanced through the window and huffed, her face turning away from the beauty she could barely see in the dark of the night and settling on Skyler. Her friend looked at her with a grin.
"You said you want to try."
"Yeah, but not at three in the morning," hissed Cassie and hugged herself closer. She was wrapped in multiple layers of clothing to shield her body from the wet snow and the cold in the air and she was still freezing. She clutched her jacket around herself closer. Her legs were wrapped in two pairs of pants, her boots reached her chins to protect them in a third layer. Her house scarf was tightly wrapped around her neck covering the half of her face up to her nose. The woolly hat on her head protected her hair beneath and her forehead while her hands were covered with black gloves. The only thing visible were her eyes.
"Well, if your siren-self decides that snow is totally her thing, there shouldn't be any witnesses around now, should there?" Cassie rolled her eyes and Skyler scoffed. "Come on, what can go wrong?"
"You know that nothing good happens after that quote? Like, ever."
Skyler ignored her, took her glove covered hand and lead her outside onto the grounds. They brought some distance between them and the castle while Cassie made sure to wipe away the single flakes falling onto the little skin visible.
"Well, it's working I'd say." said Skyler with a grin as she turned to look at Cassie.
"Sky, snow is water. It would affect me if I wouldn't wipe it away like - every other second. Imagine a snow storm! No way it'd work then."
She picked up some of the snow and let it rinse through her covered fingers. A cold force hit her face and she gasped loudly - Skyler had thrown a snowball.
"Skyler!"
She shrugged. "Just wanted to make sure."
Cassie glared at her as her legs were replaced by a tail and she fell into the snow with a huff. Skyler put a hand on her chin as she mustered the scale covered body of her best friend.
"Did you ever wonder where your clothes are vanishing to?"
She earned another glare as Cassie raised her hand with force. Snow flew from the ground and hit Skyler's face. She nodded in defeat and wiped some of the remaining flakes from her cheeks.
"I'll take that as a no."

"Cass, it's Hufflepuff against Slytherin!"
"I know."
"You can't miss it."
"Well, I don't really have a choice, do I?"
Skyler huffed and leaned back against the cold stone wall. Two days have passed since their little snow experiment and today another Quidditch game was about to take place - Hufflepuff against Slytherin. Cassie couldn't miss it but didn't really have a choice now, did she?
"Listen, you were save from the snow with your armour of clothes."
"Yes, but imagine someone throwing snow around like you did. Wouldn't be the first time. I can't just go out there and grow a tail in front if the whole school."
Skyler bit her lip and rubbed her hands over her face.
"Okay, hear me out. We will wrap you up in trousers, jumpers and jackets, a hat, scarf, gloves - the full programme like the other day. We leave after the majority of students and I will hex everyone with a snow ball in hand-" she waved Cassie's doubting look off, "shut it, I mean it. We arrive at the pitch and watch from under the stands. It's cover from the snow and no one will notice us there. If anything happens you can do your heating water magic-trick and we get back to the castle immediately."
