"Yes! Kevin picked my shift up tomorrow!" You excitedly look up at Sunwoo just in time to see him nod his head and mumble the word "cool".
"That means I can go with you to that opening, Sunwoo."
He quietly hums in acknowledgment but doesn't look up from the phone in his hand. You dejectedly watch as his thumb repeatedly flips up and down, scrolling through whatever thing has captured his attention.
Certainly not you. It's never you anymore.
Slouching back into the couch, you eye him while he continues his actions. The blank look on his face almost unnerves you, and you try to think about the last time you saw him excited about something. Happy.
During his showcases, yes. While he's performing, obviously. With you? You couldn't remember.
"Sunwoo?" Another hum. "Maybe I should just go to work tomorrow. That way, I'll have a nice check this week."
"Up to you."
When was the last time you heard him speak a full sentence to you? Actually, when was the last time he gave you his attention for longer than five minutes? You sigh. What's the point of even doing this anymore?
This isn't what you want. This wasn't the type of relationship you've dreamt about. You and Sunwoo are basically glorified roommates.
Scratch that. You've had roommates more interested in you than this.
The cold truth settles in the pit of your stomach. The two of you were no longer in love. Maybe you haven't been for a long time… You're just holding each other back from trying to find real happiness at this point.
