Excitement zips through you as you climb into the passenger seat. You haven't decided if it's because of the road trip you're going on or if it's because Kevin insisted you be up front with him. He claimed he needed your guidance and that you were much less annoying than the others, but you can't help but think it's something more. Especially when his best friend is one of the ones in the backseat.
"Still can't believe I have to sit back here,' Eric grumbles, causing Jacob to shush him.
"You know why you're back here."
"But couldn't he wait-"
Kevin slides into the driver's seat and slams the door closed. The look he sends Eric through the rearview mirror has the younger man quickly zipping his lips.
You watch the exchange, feeling a swirling sensation in your stomach. They're obviously alluding to something that Kevin doesn't want you to know, but you don't push it. For now.
"Alright, folks! Let's get this show on the road!" Kevin loudly claps before reaching for the gear shift. At the same time, you reach for the drink you placed in the cup holder and your fingers brush against each other.
Both of you snatch your hands back, looking up at each other in surprise. Thankfully, Kevin looks as flustered as you feel. His eyes dart around the car, looking everywhere but at you, while you sink a little further in your seat and try to keep the blush off your face.
"Oh, my god. This is going to be the longest weekend of our lives." Eric drops his head against the rear of his seat and sighs loudly before turning to Jacob and elbowing him. "Do something. Help them before I have to take matters into my own hands."
