Piper's P.O.V

I could feel myself shifting around, being dragged, my recently panned head throbbing. But I was to fatigued to open my eyes. Some time later, I blinding light moving around through my eye lids forced me to open them and I was met with the new Praetor of New Rome shining a flashlight in my eyes.

"Oh good, you're awake." Spoke the girl as she glared at me "Now you can tell me why you thought it was okay to break into my store."

As soon as she said those words, it clicked. Memories of the past events of sneaking around a café stepped into view.

My adrenaline spiked as I tried to get off the table I was sprawled on, only to discover one of my wrists was cuffed to the leg of the counter.

I couldn't make clear sense of the situation,my breathing uneven.

"What? Wait-"

"Let me guess," The daughter of Iris began, crossing her arms over her chest "You wanted to interrogate me for information. Learn secrets."

"Those were my friends," I snarled suddenly. I lost control of my actions as anger and resentment took the reins. "The heroes you and your friend slaughtered. They were my life and you turned them to nothing in their final moments!"

"Woah, woah, woah, slow your roll." She seemed taken back by all this news, looking a bit hurt "Friend? Ronan is not my friend, I hate him as much as you do."

I felt my face energize with surprise and confusion. "But you're his partner, you share the same position of power." I demanded. From what I learned, the partnership of Praetor demands much respect and trust to one another, and usually end up in a romantic or emotionally close bond.

But the disgusted cringe Fen gave me said otherwise "What? No! I only accepted the position because he was threatening my Enbyfriend."

My left eyebrow raised in confusion "Enbyfriend?"

She sighed and explained in annoyance "Non-Binary significant other."

My other eyebrow followed the last. She was Pansexual I said to myself.

The anger and confusion soon began to dissolve as the pieces came together. She was protecting someone she cared about. I new feeling began to rise; Empathy.

I met her eyes, dark blue almost black. It was like I was drowning in them. But this wasn't the time for an emotional talk.

"If you wanted information or something, you could've asked." She added, the tone in her voice was becoming softer and kind, but still stern. "I'm not the kind of person who's into violence."

"Didn't you just knock the lights out of me with a baking pan?" I joke with a smirk, I couldn't hold myself back from making a witty comment. Fen was thankful for that as she laughed "True, sorry about that."

We continued to talk, shining our attention on Ronan's hateful rule and coming to an agreed conclusion that something had to be done.

Fen soon opened up her café for lunch, and as families and couples ate their pastries, we discussed the whole fiasco.

"You see, Ronan has a lot of rage and grief that he has been keeping bottled up since I had a quest with him and a couple of friends. But, all those emotions have turned him into the bitter asinus he is today." Fen portrayed, taking a bite of an egg sandwich.

I nodded solemnly, I could relate in a certain level, whatever quest a demigod is sent on, you never know what is in store, that could sometimes lead to your demise. It got me thinking about the quest I went on with Jason and Leo, all the times we nearly died.
