Hazel's P.O.V.

We were all terrified, next up was Percy. Today, one of those outlandish guards was going to drag him out and make him face the grief of his loved ones.

I love Percy as if he was kin. I didn't want him to see Annabeth's pain that these wackos concoct. That was the same for me when I went in there.

My vision was of Frank, sobbing as my cohort burned the purple Roman shroud under Pluto's alter. Then watching as the fire that has once been kept under control went wild, spreading through the walls as it consumed the safety structures of the alter room. But Frank was drowning in too much grief and sorrow to care as the flames took him too.

Percy already had to waddle through Tartarus with the love of his life who was in the same grieving pain, he shouldn't have to watch her go through a life threatening scenario that's not even real.

Speaking of, I could tell the son of Poseidon was hurting. Ever since his expedition in the pit of that nightmare, he's been different. Sure he keeps up the sarcastic, cheerful aura, but behind his troublemaking sea-green eyes is a burning darkness of trauma he refuses to let others see.

And that was about to grow when a loud knock banged on the metal door.

"PERSEUS JACKSON! YOU'RE UP!" Boomed a guard. I jerked my eyes to my friend to see the blood rush out of his face and stumble back a few steps.

Nico rushed past me and put his body wait on the door. "Come on!" He whispered to the three of us "Koda said they'd be here today, we have to buy ourselves and them time!"

With that, we all shoved ourselves against the door, a war between us four and the guards trying to get in. Percy had been through far to much to go through this too and by the gods of Olympus I was going to protect my brothers.

Thankfully, the gods answered my prayers. Koda dropped from the ceiling.

"Hey, Hazel! Get over here!" They ordered, watching with urgency as we kept the door sealed. I quickly pushed myself away and two our gray-haired friend.

They handed me a Thermos with bronze markings. As my hand wrapped around the container, Koda brought their hands around mine. They stared at me, as gif digging into my soul as they spoke "As soon as this thing opens, count to twenty, then use the Most to make us vanish."

I nodded in response as Koda rushed to the door to help the boys. I opened the thermos and began the countdown. With each passing second, I could see my friends losing the defense battle to keep the men out. They were shout and yelling, demanding us to recede from our actions.

Finally, as soon as the twenty seconds were up, which felt like an eternity, I manipulated the Mist around us just as the door flew open, scattering my friends around the room.

Two guards stormed in, one nearly stomping on Jason's face. "WHERE ARE THEY?!" Demanded one, searching the blank room.

The second guard came straight to the center of the room, right in front of me. But in his eyes, no one was around. The Mist is meant to trick the minds of mortals and demigods, sheiks them from the horrors of this world.

"Damn it," mumbled the guard that was practically standing on me. "call security! We have a code black!"

The two ran out of the room was the alarms began to blare. Koda placed a hand on my shoulder, forcing me to look up at them. Their smirk and trouble that sparked in their eyes told me what was next.

Koda helped all four of us into the ventilation system, Jason in front since he already knew how to get out.

One by one our feet hit the snowy ground. The fresh air, the natural light, the cold wind, it all came rushing back to me. It was like Alaska, just not as beautiful or fresh.
