"Why are we doing this again?" Fashion Lady asked.
The Supers were gathered on a rooftop of an apartment building. Prior to that moment, they discussed about patrolling around Riverdale. Betty was hesitant at first, considering they were new at being heroes. But ultimately, she decided that it was best that they got experience before they had to face real villains.
"You literally agreed to do this too," Hot Rog Diggity Dog, who was lying on the ground, replied. Fashion Lady only scoffed.
"I thought this would be fun," Anxious Redhead said. He was sitting on the edge of the roof with Royal Jug beside him. "Now I regret being here."
"You and me both," said Sneaky R. He looked around to see if anything was happening. Everything was peaceful.
Royal Jug sighed and leaned his head back. "Do we have to do this?" he asked. "I mean, we have the police for a reason."
"Come on, guys," said Super Betts. "We're heroes—this is what we do: help people!" Unfortunately, her friends were not convinced—even Anxious Redhead. She racked her brain for another response. Then, she suggested, "how about we split up? It's easier to patrol that way instead of just staying at one place."
"Fair point," Brainiac Dilly said after a moment.
"But we don't have any way of contacting each other," Fashion Lady protested. At that, Super Betts sighed and relented, while Brainiac Dilly noted to make ear bugs once he returned home.
Suddenly, Hot Rog Diggity Dog's ears perked up. He stood up and walked forward. Royal Jug was quick to notice this. "What's wrong, buddy?" he asked as he went to him. The others turned their attention to him.
Hot Rog Diggity Dog made a sound of realization. "I hear a cry for help!" he told them.
Everyone was surprised, which morphed to excitement. Their first assignment.
"Lead the way!" Sneaky R told him.

The Gang ended up in a park. They hid in some bushes in order to not attract unnecessary attention.
"I'm not hearing any cries for help," said Sneaky R.
Hot Rog Diggity Dog scratched his ear. "That's strange. I could've sworn I heard it coming from here," he said. Then, his head perked up and looked at a certain direction.
Everyone else quieted down and listened. Silent crying could be heard in a distance. Super Betts went to check it out. She came out of the bushes and followed the noises. When she saw who it was, she gasped...
It was a boy.
He was wiping the tears that poured down his eyes with his arms.
Super Betts went up to the child and crouched slightly. "Hey, kid," she said. The boy sniffled and looked at her. "What's wrong?"
His bottom lip quivered, and he pointed to the ground. A toy dump truck that was broken laid there. It had been split into two parts.
"Oh," Super Betts said softly.
Sneaky R suddenly jumped out from the bushes, which startled the child. "We came all the way here for a kid who broke his toy?!" he yelled.
The boy started to cry after Sneaky R's outburst. Fashion Lady smacked Sneaky R on the back of his head and scolded him.
Meanwhile, Super Betts was comforting the child. Royal Jug approached the boy and offered him some vanilla ice cream. The boy sniffled then accepted the ice cream. "Thank you," he muttered before licking it.
"How about we go get you a new toy?" Super Betts suggested. "Would that make you feel better?"
The little boy nodded. "Yes, please..."
"Great. We're kidnapping kids now?" Sneaky R sneered, earning another smack from Fashion Lady.
They eventually decided that Super Betts and Fashion Lady would go and find a new toy while the rest stayed with the boy.

The boy thanked them when he received his new toy dump truck. He looked at the toy with a glimmer in his eyes and he began to play with it.
"No problem, kid!" Super Betts replied. "Just be more careful, okay?"
The boy nodded. Then, he looked at them curiously. "Who are you guys?" he asked.
The friends exchanged looks with each other. Eventually, Anxious Redhead said, "We're the Supers."
The boy gasped. "You're heroes?"
"Right you are!" said Sneaky R.
Fashion Lady crouched near the boy and put a finger to her lips. "We're not exactly famous yet, though. So right now..." she glanced around, making sure that no one noticed them, "... this is our secret. Okay?"
The boy nodded. "Thanks again," he said. Then, the Supers flew away. Surprisingly, barely anyone noticed them.

"We should probably not go patrolling again," Reggie said as he put his shirt.
Then Gang was back at Betty's house. They took turns using the bathroom to change; they had to change quickly so that Betty's parents wouldn't see them.
"It's something to consider," Betty replied.
"But think about how much good we could do if we did patrol often," Dilton said.
"Another thing to consider," Betty said.
Later, the rest left her house when they were finished. Just then, Betty's mother came into her room. "Betty, why were all your friends here?" she inquired.
"Uh, they, um, came here to make plans with me!" Betty lied and smiled, hoping that her mother would believe her.
Her mother raised an eyebrow and stared at her for a long moment. Eventually, she shrugged. "All right. Whatever you say," she said before leaving.
Betty sighed and plopped onto her bed. She didn't like lying to her mother, but telling the truth would risk their safety.
Being a hero was hard.
(A/N: Finally done with the first book! I'll try to divide the next stories into chapters. If not, they'll just be a short story, snd they would still include a shorter story. Peace out!)
