[Dream]

The metronome ticked back and forth in Violet's ears. She felt like she was swimming in a pool of mud. Her eyes slowly opened and she could see herself under the water.

"Violet..." harsh whispers sounded in her ears over the ticking of the metronome.

Violet felt hands holding onto her arms and legs, scratching at her skin as they desperately tried to hold her in place.

"Violet..."

The faces above the water were all a blur to the girl, but she could see their pearly white grins. Violet willed her body to move, but their grips got tighter. She felt like she was being weighed down by concrete.

"Violet..."

Violet heard the metronome getting louder and faster, trying to cover their whispers.

"Violet!" they screamed, their voices distorted and angry.

Violet shut her eyes tight and let herself sink further into the darkness of the water.

Violet gasped awake, nearly bolting from the bed.

"Violet," a concerned voice called her name, putting a hand on her arm.

Violet flinched back, nearly falling from the bed as she scrambled away from the contact. Her wild eyes flitted around the room, seeing only white.

"Violet, hey. It's me. It's Lucy," Lucy spoke calmly, her hands up.

Violet locked eyes with Lucy and felt her breathing start to calm down, "Lucy?"

Lucy gave her a reassuring smile, "Yeah, it's me. We're in the hospital. DEPRAC picked us up."

Violet looked around frantically, "Where's Lock?"

"I...I don't know. He wasn't there when I woke up," Lucy said.

Violet immediately crawled off the bed and pulled back the curtain.

"What are you doing, Vi?"

"Going home. I need to find Lock," Violet said blankly.

Lucy could tell that the girl was running on autopilot with only one thing in mind. Find Lockwood and make sure he was ok.

Violet's mind was desperately focusing on Lockwood as it tried to forget the dream...the memory...that had been thrust upon her. He was the closest thing to family she had ever had. He was the one person who's presence brought her immediate comfort. And she was seeking it out.

Lucy grabbed onto Violet's things, her own belongings in her other hand, before following her out, "Vi! Wait! At least put your shoes on!"

Violet's entire body was shaking as she left the hospital. Rocks dug into the bottom of her feet as she strode down the streets in nothing but a hospital gown. She barely even noticed that it was now day time. She just wanted to go home. Even though her body throbbed with pains from bruises she sustained from the fall, she didn't care.

Violet banged on the door continuously when she got there and George opened the door, seeing a completely out-of-it Violet and a concerned Lucy.

"Where's Lock?" Violet moved past George, beginning to search the rooms on the bottom floor.

"I was about to ask you the same thing," George said.

Violet stopped in her tracks, "He's not here?"

"No."
