chapter fifty-two:

Nour placed Nubia inside of her incubator before sitting down on the chair next to the hospital bed. It's been a few days since Danielle's neurosurgery. She still hasn't woken up, her eyes moving under her eyelids rapidly.

"How about you go home and we stay here? Hm?" Nura asked as she rubbed her brothers shoulders, Taina nodding in agreement. Nour shook his head as he stared at his sleeping beauty, his heart slowly sinking into his stomach as the days went by.

"It's okay. I don't want the boys to see her like this. Will you pick them up from school for me? I can have you use the limo."

"No no, it's okay. Taina will drive us, right?" Nura asked as she elbowed her lover who nodded immediately.

"Of course. Anything to help."

"Thank you. Please let me know if you need anything. I'll keep you guys updated." Nour breathed, hugging his sister before sitting back down again. He grabbed Danielle's hand, his tears welling in his eyes as he stared at her face.

"Come on, baby..I need you..come back.." Nour whispered as he squeezed her hand. Danielle didn't budge, Nour looking down and sighing as his thoughts raced. She hasn't had a seizure after the second one, her face calmer and less worried. The terrified look Nour remembered was wiped away with a blank mask and closed eyes. A few tears fell from them and he was there to wipe them away everytime.

Nubia fussed, Nour standing up and taking her into his arms. Her eyes were wide open as she looked around, Nour smiling widely as he touched her hand with his finger.

"My princess.. let's talk to mommy again. Because daddy wants mommy to wake up and see you. Yeah?" Nubia grunted softly while twisting around in his arms before sneezing.

"God bless you, my baby..I love you so much." Nour whispered as he kissed her nose. Nubia smiled quickly, her eyes shutting as she eased into his arms more comfortably.

"Nour."

"Nour, wake up.."

"Papa, wake up.." The sweet voice filled Nour's ears causing him to smile as he drifted back asleep. He heard a soft laugh, his eyebrows pressed together once he realized he wasn't dreaming. His eyes shot open, looking around to see the nurses and doctor smiling down at him as they stood by Danielle's bed.

"Hi." Danielle chuckled with a soft smile, her eyes full of love as she looked at Nour who rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn't still asleep.

"Hi..hi, mama." Nour smiled as his eyes watered, leaning in and kissing her softly. She kissed him back while laughing in surprise.

"Are you okay? When did you-"

"Breathe. I've been awake for almost an hour. I wanted you to sleep while I spent some time with Nubia and fed her. She latched on really well. The doctors are checking both of us every thirty minutes, but me more so. They're watching my vitals and blood pressure." Danielle breathed, the doctor nodding in response as he wrote in his chart.

"Memory is in tact. Danielle..do you remember anything else from the last week?"

"Yes. I was attacked, but we have cameras so there will be proof. I'm not worried about that. Is Nubia okay? No jaundice? My first son had jaundice." Danielle asked. Nour smiled at the sight of Danielle holding Nubia who slept in her arms, the older woman's ring back on her finger and glistening as she patted her daughters behind softly to keep her content. Nour felt waves of different emotions run through him, rubbing Danielle's arms as he listened to the doctor speak.

"Everything is fine. The formula made her a little gassy but she's calm. Her weight is good, her vitals are good. She's been clear to go home since yesterday, but your husband was adamant about staying with you."

"Hmm, Is that so?" Danielle chuckled while looking up at Nour with an arched eyebrow. He just smirked, leaning down and kissing her forehead.

"We'll check again in about an hour. We want to keep you overnight for observation. If everything is fine through the night, then you're free to go home by tomorrow afternoon." The doctor walked off, the medical assistant collecting her blood samples before walking out of the room as well.

"Oh I missed you so much." Nour moaned as Danielle's lips pecked his over and over again. Their kiss deepened, Danielle moaning softly as Nour dominated her mouth completely.

"Mm, don't start daddy. I'm holding the baby you already put in me." Danielle chuckled against his lips. Nour smirked, kissing her again before pulling away.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there. I was stuck in traffic when I got the alert from the panic room. By the time I got home the firemen were already drilling the door open-"

"Hey, hey. You stop that. That was nobody's fault but..the man who attacked me. He said a few things that were so weird. It was as if he's someone else. Like Alfred..and he sounded like him too. Maybe a little different but that wouldn't be possible right?" Danielle asked quietly, Nour sitting down and grabbing her hand.

"I'm going to have Nura check the cameras. I don't want you to worry, though. I promise you, from here on out I'm here. Until you're sick of me."

"I'll never be sick of you. Can you do me one favor?"

"Anything, baby." Nour breathed while kissing her cheek.

"Go take a shower. You're smelly." Danielle giggled while wrinkling her nose. He chuckled and pushed his armpits in her face causing her to squeal and push him away the best that she could with Nubia in her arms.

"Please. And can you get me some food? I am so hungry. I want chicken Alfredo from Olive Garden. I don't know why but that specific-"

"Anything you want. Anything. I love you both so much." Nour whispered as he kissed her again. He cradled her face with such love that Danielle couldn't help but melt while smiling against his lips.

"And I love you. But we still have to wait six weeks so no nonsense."

"Fine, fine."
