"No... no! NO!" Gimli cried out in sorrow at the sight of so many of his fallen kin.

"Goblins." Legolas breathed as he pulled out an arrow from a dead Dwarf. Swiftly he pulled out his bow as Aragorn and Boromir took out their swords, I myself kept my hand near where I kept my daggers but I did not pull them out yet.

"We make for the Gap of Rohan. We should never have come here." Boromir said. "Now, get out of here. Get out!"

"Frodo!" I scream as I see him just get pulled to the ground then is being dragged to the water.

"Frodo!" The other Hobbit's yell as we quickly run to Frodo's aid.

"Strider!" Sam yelled getting Aragorn's attention. "Strider! Aragorn!"

"Get off him!" I yelled as I bring down my dagger quickly cutting through the tentacle.

But just as Frodo was free ten more tentacles came shooting out of the water knocking Merry, Pippin and Sam to the ground as they wrapped around my waist and Frodo feet dangling him upside down.

"Frodo! (Y/n)!" The Hobbits yelled desperately as Legolas, Aragorn and Boromir run out of the Mine.

Tightly gripping my dagger I cut through the flesh of the tentacle causing it to drop me, I fall into Aragorn's arms and he quickly starts running back to the Mine using one hand to secure me and the other to cut and tentacle that came near.

    "Into the Mines!" Gandalf yelled.

As soon as we leave the water I jump out of Aragorn's arms to make it easier for us both to run into the Mines. Without even needing to look back I knew the creature in the lake was close behind as I heard the crumbling of the doors blocking the way out leaving us in the darkness.

We sat there in complete silence and darkness before Gandalf finally spoke. "We now have but one choice." He lit up his staff dimly illuminating around his face. "We must face the long dark of Moria. Be on your guard. There are older and fouler things than Orcs in the deep places of the world."

We followed Gandalf keeping close together as he lead the way.

"Are you hurt?" I whisper to Frodo.

"No, but thank you." Frodo answered.

"Quietly, now. It's a four-day journey to the other side. Let us hope that our presence may go unnoticed."

———

Every step seemed to echo in the blackness of the Mine. I always kept close to the wall knowing the other side was a drop that who knows how deep it went.

"The wealth of Moria was not in gold or jewels. But mithril." Gandalf explained as he lit up the seemingly bottomless droop that we all stared in amazement at. "Bilbo had a shirt of mithril rings that Thorin gave him." Gandalf said as he continued to walk.

"Oh, that was a Kingly gift." Gimli said.

"Yes. I never told him, but its worth was greater than the value of the Shire." Gandalf said.

—————

We had already walked what I guess was two days because we slept twice. Gimli also sang an old song a song that Bilbo said the Dwarfs sang the night they arrived at his house. The Mine seemed to go on forever but soon we came to a part with three passageways.

"I have no memory of this place." Gandalf said.

———

We had set up a fire after the first two hours of Gandalf thinking about which way to go.

"Are we lost?" Pippin asked.

"No." Merry whispered.

"I think we are." Pippin said.

"Shh." I shh'ed them. "Gandalf's thinking."

"Merry?" Pippin whispered.

"What?" Merry questioned.

"I'm hungry." Pippin said.

I smiled at them then turned to Frodo who had an alarmed expression.

"What is it?" I ask him quietly.

"There is something following us." Frodo said.

I looked out and saw a dark shape moving across the rocks. We both turned around and run up to Gandalf who was sitting on a rock in front of the three passages.

"There's something down there." Frodo whispered in panic.

"It's Gollum." Gandalf said.

"Gollum?" Frodo and I both said.
I remembered Gollum from Mr. Bilbo's story's, I never really liked that thing.

"He's been following us for three days." Gandalf explained.

"He escaped the dungeons of Barad-dûr?" Frodo questioned.

"Escaped... or was set loose, and now The Ring has drawn him here. He will never be rid of his need for it. He hates and loves The Ring, as he hates and loves himself. Sméagol's life is a sad story. Yes, 'Sméagol' he was once called, before The Ring found him, before it drove him mad." Gandalf explained.

"It's a pity Bilbo didn't kill him when he had the chance." Frodo said.

"Pity? It is a pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. Many that live deserve death, and some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo, (Y/n)?" That made me pause and think. "Do not be too eager to deal out death and judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends. My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet. For good or ill, before this is over. The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many."

Frodo looked down and said on the rock beside Gandalf. "I wish The Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened." Frodo said and I sat beside him.

"So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find The Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it, and that is an encouraging thought." Gandalf smiled. "Oh! It's that way." Gandalf nodded his head in the direction of a passage.

"He's remembered." Merry said happily.

"No, but the air doesn't smell so foul down here." Gandalf explained as he stood up shining the light of his staff in the passage. "If in doubt, Meriadoc, always follow your nose." Gandalf said leading the way through the dark.
