(WARNING: DEATH)

—————

I rush over and so does Sam when we see Frodo alive and gasping for breath.

"He's alive." Sam breathed as Frodo sat up.

"I'm all right. I'm not hurt." Frodo gasped still trying to calm his breaths.

"You should be dead. That spear would have skewered a wild boar." Aragorn said in amazement.

"I think there's more to this Hobbit than meets the eye." Gandalf spoke.

Frodo looked down unbuttoning the first couple buttons from his shirt and revealed a beautiful silver mail shirt.

"Mithril." Gimli gasped. "You are full of surprises, Master Baggins."
But the peace and joy of the moment was quickly forgotten when more cries of Orcs echoed in the distance.

"To the Bridge of Khazad-dûm!" Gandalf ordered.

———

With Gandalf leading the way we ran with speed as the calls of Orcs followed close behind. I could hear their feet running across the cold stone floor. I heard them from all around, they even crawled down from the ceiling.

We all came to a stop as Orcs blocked our way. We were surrounded and terribly outnumbered.
I watch their disgusting faces press closer as their cold eyes study their new meal.
A low growing silenced every thing as a warm orange light grew in the distance from a large tunnel. The Orcs actually seemed to be scared and as quickly as possible they fled escaping whatever was approaching.

"What is this new devilry?" Boromir quietly asked Gandalf.

"Gandalf?" I question as the sense of danger grew stronger.
Gandalf stood in silence before another growl was heard, "A Balrog. A demon of the ancient world. This foe is beyond any of you." He spoke grimly. "RUN!" Gandalf suddenly yelled as he turned to the side.
With out a second thought we all turned and followed Gandalf.

"Quickly!" Gandalf urged as he stood by a passage waiting for us all to pass.

I adrenaline rushed through my body as I ran down a set of stairs. I was carful not to go to close to the edge because it was a drop straight into darkness.

Slowing down we arrived at a large gap in the stairs.
Legolas effortlessly jumped across and turned back waiting for us to follow.

"Gandalf!" Legolas called waving his arm over.

Gandalf then flung himself forward landing beside Legolas. Just as he straightened himself up an arrow came shooting just in front of my face. I looked to the source as more arrows were released.
Legolas swiftly took out his bow and shot an arrow that perfectly hit the Orc straight in his forehead.

"MERRY! PIPPIN!" Boromir then yelled as he held both of the Hobbits and jumped. Just as his feet left where he was standing big chunk crumbled and fell off leaving an even bigger gap.

"Sam." Aragorn called. Sam came forward to Aragorn who then picked him up and threw him across into Gandalfs arms.

"Nobody tosses a Dwarf." Gimli stubbornly said as he launched himself forward but missing the landing causing him to fall backwards. Legolas acted fast as he grabbed Gimli's beard. "Not the beard!" Gimli yelled as Legolas yanked him up.
Before Aragorn could throw me over more of the steps began to crumble.

"Frodo! (Y/n)!" Aragorn yelled as he shoved us back. "Hold on!"
I looked down upon the rest of the Fellowship then I looked behind as a large piece fell down crashing down into the stairs behind us. The ground began to rock and sway.

"Lean forward!" Aragorn instructed.
The three of us lent forward causing the platform to fall forward.
I stumbled into Legolas's arms from the sudden impact. As soon as we were all safe we ran down many more stairs as the air began to grow hot.

———

"Over the bridge! Fly!" Gandalf yelled as we ran past flames.
The bridge was thin and on either side there was a drop. I ran behind Frodo, making it safely across the bridge.

I turned back to see Gandalf standing on the bridge face to face with a creature that seemed to be of smoke. It was large, it had burning yellow eyes and a mouth full of fire.

"You cannot pass!" Gandalf yelled holding his staff as the beast.

"Gandalf!" Frodo yelled.

The Balrog straighten himself up his body becoming covered in blazing flames.

"I am a servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the flame of Anor. The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udûn!" Gandalf yelled raising his staff but the Balrog did not back down instead it brought its flaming sword down upon Gandalfs staff. There was a bright light and the sword was destroyed angering the Balrog even more.
"Go back to the Shadow." The Balrog stepped on the bridge talking out a whip of fire, but that did not scare Gandalf or even make him step back he just stood strong staff and sword in hand. "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" Gandalf brought down his staff and a bright blinding white light filled the room and was quickly gone. The Balrog stepped forward bringing back his whip but upon his step the bridge gave way only where the Balrog stood and the beast fell down into the darkness.
Gandalf turned around but just as he was walking away he was pulled back and was now barely holding on to the edge of the bridge.
Frodo lunged forward but Boromir reached forward grabbing onto Frodo preventing him from reaching Gandalf.
"Gandalf!" Frodo desperately cried.

"Fly, you fools." Gandalf said and just like that he was gone.

"No!" I gasped.

"NO!" Frodo yelled as Boromir pulled him away.

I could no move, or I would not move I just started at the bridge. What were we without Gandalf. Never, never did the thought of losing Gandalf ever cross my mind, it seemed impossible, but yet he was gone.
I felt my arm be yanked back as Aragorn pulled me back and out of the Mines.

—————

It was day outside the sun was bright, we only ran a short distance from the exit before we all stopped on the rocks.

I sat down with my eyes closed lost in my mind.

"Legolas, get them up." I heard Aragon call.

"Give them a moment, for pity's sake!" Boromir protested.

"By nightfall these hills will be swarming with Orcs." Aragorn told him. "We must reach the woods of Lothlórien. Come, Boromir, Legolas, Gimli, get them up."
