(Narrator's POV)
"So that's what's happened. I'm glad you are all right, Amethyst. Thank goodness they didn't come into the town. If they did, we all would have ended up like Greg. I still can't believe he's gone." Vidalia said as Amethyst was over at her house. Thankfully, The Pantheon hadn't gone into town and had kept their actions in the areas that were cut off from the main area of Beach City, meaning the humans such as Vidalia were unharmed.
Still, that alone did little to ease the worry of the Quartz Gem. While she was glad that Vidalia was safe, she wasn't a fool: The Pantheon really weren't after the humans and only saw them as obstacles if they happened to get in the way like Greg and apparently Lars did. And while she didn't know the true reason why the Pantheon would even attack at all, it was clear to her and everyone else that they needed to be stopped.
Saying goodbye to Vidalia and heading back home, Amethyst walked and was lost in her thoughts. The more she was alone with her thoughts, the more she began to worry and so many questions of doubt creeped into her mind:
"What if the Pantheon is too strong even after we prepare?"
"What if they attack again before the year is up?"
"Can we really defeat them?"
All of these questions were filling her head as she arrived in what was left of Little Homeworld and ran into Peridot, who was doing some calculations.
"Amethyst! I did some research and we should have Little Homeworld back up and running within--huh? What's wrong?" The Green Gem asked.
"N-nothing, Peridot. Just still shook, y'know? I guess those Pantheon jerks really got to me. And seeing what they did to Connie and how she's still messed up from that Dark Aura thing. And how they outright killed Greg. It's pretty clear these guys are playing on a different level...." Amethyst replied.
"And? We can beat them, Amethyst. Steven and Garnet are on Homeworld training while Pearl and Connie are here on Earth training. If any of them thought we couldn't beat the Pantheon, they wouldn't even try to prepare...." Peridot said.
"And what if we can't? Huh? Tell me that, Peridot! Even Garnet is scared of the Pantheon and she's the most fearless Gem I know! And you saw what Fire Agate did to Steven! Steven gave it everything he had but Fire Agate shook it all off like it wasn't anything! How do we defeat someone like that.....?!?" Amethyst exclaimed as Peridot looked at her and...
(SLAP!!)
"Amethyst, you clod. Listen to yourself: You're one of the most confident Gems I know and yet you're saying all of this?!? Yeah Garnet is afraid and Steven was beaten. But you know what they're doing? Fighting! They're still preparing for a fight! They haven't given up! Connie suffered the Dark Aura and she's still training with Pearl! No one's giving up no matter how strong those Pantheon clods are! And you won't either, got it?" Peridot said as Amethyst looked at her and smiled.
"Thanks Peri. I.....I needed that. And you're right. Everyone else is fighting. No one else is giving up, so neither should I. I still wish there was a way for me to better prepare though...." The Quartz Gem said as Jasper approached.
"Maybe I can train you. I have fought Fire Agate before." She said as Amethyst looked at her. While she was uncertain if she could trust Jasper, she also knew how experienced she was in battle. And besides, they were sisters in a way.
"Alright. I'll train with you, Sis. But let me ask you: Why are you even offering after all you and me have been through? I thought you hated me, Garnet and Pearl?" Amethyst asked as Jasper turned away.
"Because.....I know this is what Steven would want me to do. Now enough questions. Let's go." Jasper said as Amethyst followed her to the woods as Peridot looked on and shook her head.
"Never thought I'd see the day where I'd be glad Jasper is involved in something. I'd better go check in with Lapis and Bismuth." The Green Gem said as she went to go find the Water Gem and Builder Gem.
Amethyst is going to train with Jasper after a pep talk from Peridot! See ya next chapter!
