(Narrator's POV)
(On Mars.....)
"So Steven is immune to your Dark Aura? This does change things quite a bit. How are you going to deal with him?" Beryl asked Dark Aura Onyx as The Pantheon stopped on the planet Mars to plan their next move. It was certainly a surprise to find out that Steven was immune to the Dark Aura but that alone wasn't going to stop the Pantheon from following through with their goals.
"Hmph. It makes sense when you think about it: Steven may be half organic but he's still got the power of a Diamond. Perhaps that's why he's immune to your Dark Aura, Commander?" Cobalt suggested as Dark Aura Onyx glared at her before chuckling.
"I'm impressed. You figured that out yourself, did you? Of course that's what protects him, Cobalt. No ordinary Gem would be able to withstand the Dark Aura in that fashion." The Gem Commander said as Fire Agate got a message on his communicator.
"What in the.....Holly Blue? I thought I told you to never contact me again. This better be good." He said angrily as Holly Blue appeared on the communication screen.
"Ive been hoping you and the rest of the Pantheon were still around, Fire Agate. I was aware you and the others went into self imposed exile after that blasted hybrid's Era 3 came into effect...." Holly Blue said as Fire Agate chuckled.
"You know Steven as well? You've crossed paths with him, I assume? Then maybe we DO have something to talk about after all." The Gem Commander said as Holly Blue chuckled.
"I've got to keep this brief as to not arouse suspicion. But Steven and that fusion are here on Homeworld. I didn't get the specifics, but they were searching for Jadeite and Hiddenite. Those two Gems that survived the Dark Aura and you all during the War." She explained as Dark Aura Onyx overheard.
"I heard that. Tch, of course that fusion would seek out her old friends on the one place that we cannot reach her. But....I wonder if there's someone I can use to get to them?" He asked as Holly Blue Agate chuckled.
"I believe I have just who you seek, Commander..." She said.
(Meanwhile.....)
"So that's pretty much the cut and dry of it, Spinel." Steven said as he was explaining the situation to Spinel. While she had become close to the Diamonds, it was clear she herself knew this was something they didn't need to know unless it was necessary.
"Wow. So the Pantheon really are still around. Well if you need an extra set of fists, you know I got your back, Stevie. But just be careful----" Spinel began to say until she went silent and her eyes went blank, much to Steven's fright!
"Spinel?!? Are you OK?!?" The hybrid exclaimed until Spinel seemingly rose up by herself and was surrounded by a Dark Aura and began to attack Steven!!!!
"Spinel?!? What are you doing?!??" Steven exclaimed, completely bewildered at what was going on as he dodged and blocked several strikes from the Heart Gem as Garnet, Jadeite and Hiddenite rushed in and saw what was going on.
"Spinel has been taken by the Dark Aura. Dark Aura Onyx must be manipulating her from afar. There's no way he's here in Homeworld." Garnet said as Steven had to block a double fist attack from Spinel. He was too busy trying to keep the Heart Gem at bay to pay attention to what Garnet had said.
However, because of that, he felt his longtime fear come back to haunt him: Fear of Betrayal. And that caused him to turn Pink and go right at Spinel, delivering a blow that sent her back and knocked her out. But just as the hybrid approached the Heart Gem, he was stopped by Hiddenite.
"Steven. Wait. There's a better way. Trust me." She said as the two of them approached the unconscious Spinel.
"Place your hand upon her Gem. Focus your energy and love into her, Steven. That will clear her of the Dark Aura." Hiddenite said as Steven did what he was told and placed his hand upon Spinel's Gem, focusing his mind, energy and love into healing Spinel.
Garnet and Jadeite looked on as the hybrid and Heart Gem glowed in a brilliant pink light as Spinel woke up as if she was just waking from a bad dream.
"Huh...what....what happened? That was like a nightmare.....Dark Aura Onyx....he had me in his grip....he made me see things......horrible things......!" Spinel sobbed as she hugged Steven tightly.
"It's over, Spinel. Just calm down." Hiddenite said as Steven hugged Spinel back to comfort her.
It just further proved how dangerous Dark Aura Onyx is.
