*two weeks later*

Emilia and I are now sitting in her room on her bed, it is similar to Julian’s bed. The room is set up the same too but instead of red curtains and duvet they are jade green, her room is also a lot more girlie, I think looking around.

“Scarlett? What colour should I paint my nails?” Emilia asks me whilst taking off the last few specs of pink.

I think for a few seconds before responding with, “Purple. It’ll match your eyes. Plus purple is my favourite colour, so of course that’s what I’d say.” I laugh and soon Emilia joins in with me.

“Okay. It’s my favourite colour too. So I will paint them purple!” she starts laughing again.

“Emilia?” I ask.

“Yes?” She says as she paints her pinkie nail.

“Do, well did, you know a lady named Elizabeth Rose Anderson?” Ever since Granma mentioned she knew them I have wanted to know the full story.

“Yes! She was such a lovely person. How did you know her?” She asks looking up.

“She was my grandmother. How did you know her?” I ask her. I can sense she is debating what to say.

“You’re her granddaughter? That’s awesome! I met her ten years ago. My brothers, Isobelle and I nearly got burned to death in our house, your Grandmother saved us. She reached us before the fire did. Sometimes I wonder how she knew about the fire, I asked her when she came to visit us one time but she said she saw the smoke. I knew she was lying though.” She says looking down. “She came to visit us a lot after the fire.”

My mind slips into the past. To one of her memories, of a visit my grandmother made.

“Emilia, you’d love my granddaughter, she’s the same age as you and your twin.” my Grandmother says.

“Really?!” A little eight year old Emilia says, bouncing up and down on the chair she was sitting on. “Can I meet her?” She asks eagerly.

“You will one day, my dear. One day” My grandmother says looking out the window.

“Why not –?”

I’m pulled out of the vision by Emilia yelling my name and shaking me.

“Scarlett! What’s wrong?!” She yells, shaking me again.

“Emilia? What are you doing?” I ask.

“Thank god! Your face was all blank and you were just staring into space and not replying to anything I was saying!”  She says as she pulls me into a hug. “What happened?”

I can’t lie to her. She saw me having a vision and she is becoming my best friend...

“If I tell you something can you promise to keep a secret?” I ask looking at her directly in the eyes.

“Yes!” She says looking horrified by the idea of not keeping a secret. “I promise not to tell anyone!” She jumps up and down eagerly before settling down to listen.

Okay. Here goes nothing.

“Ever since I can remember I have had special abilities. I can see the past, the present and the future. I can read people’s minds, sense them and also slip into them. Although I feel horrible when I do any of those. Sensing people’s emotions is a part of that too.” I say, I’m about to continue when she interrupts me.

“That’s awesome!” She says, before I glare at her and she shuts up.

“I can talk to spirits as well. I can talk to them in my dreams. I can also talk to anyone, in there and my, dreams once I have met them, And when I see something bad to come, I can change it, so nothing bad actually happens, changing the future has no effect on me or anyone else. Oh, and I can feel when someone I love or am close to is in danger.” I stop. I think that pretty much covers it. It feels so much better to have told someone besides Vi about me.
