Julian’s POV.
“Mother! Lilliana is here!” I call out knowing she will hear me and within seconds she is in front of me.
“Lilliana! How lovely it is to see you!” Mother cries and flings her arms around her.
“Yeah, long time no see.” Lilliana replies returning the hug.
“Uh, how do you guys know each other?” I ask, slightly curious.
“Well, I met your mother quite a few years back, I think I met her through one of my vampire friends? Aria, was it?” She looks at my mother for confirmation.
“Yes, that is right.” She smiles kindly at her. “Why don’t you come in and I’ll get you a drink?”
“Thank you. That would be lovely.” Lilliana says. Mother and Lilliana both head inside, Lilliana just behind her.
“We have much to discuss.” Mother says as she and Lilliana walk into the kitchen.
“Well that was weird.” Scarlett says to me.
“Yeah, I know.”
“Should we go inside?” Scarlett asks me.
“Yes, I want to know why Lilliana is here.” I say and lead her into the house not letting go of her hand.
“Me too.” She replies.

When we entered the kitchen mother, father and Lilliana were all sitting in the lounge room sipping at coffee and chatting.
“Julian, Scarlett. It is a good thing you have joined us, we are discussing the barrier that is to be put around the premises and some of the surrounding forest.” Father says.
“Okay, so what’s it keeping out?” I ask as I pull Scarlett into the seat next to me.
“Well, hopefully it should keep out the Undead.” Mother says and Lilliana agrees.
After an hour or so of discussing the barrier I head up to my room. Once in my room I flop down onto my bed and think. I would like to be with Scarlett and talking to her but as Scarlett is chatting away with Emilia it makes it nearly impossible to get a word in.
Scarlett.
Beautiful, gorgeous Scarlett. I feel a smile spread across my lips as I think about her. I love the way her smile could light a whole town, how her beautiful musical laugh fills a room. How her stunning black hair cascades down her back and the way her bright emerald green eyes seem to sparkle. She is amazing and perfect and hot and… everything. I-I think I love her.
I sit up dead straight at this thought. I, love her? She’s human… It would be too dangerous.
But you do love her. So what does it matter? A little voice in the back of my head states.
I love Scarlett. I. Love. Her. Oh my goodness. I love Scarlett! This explains everything! The way I get nervous around her, the way I want to protect her even if it means ending my own life. It explains everything.
What if she doesn’t feel the same way about me?
