You had just woken up when the constant vibrating of your phone started to get on your nerves. Groggily, you reached for it and squinted at the screen.
Notifications were everywhere. Follows, tags, shares. Your social media was blowing up.
“…Oh,” you mumbled. “I guess people really know me now… thanks to Dave.”
As if on cue, a message popped up on your screen:
> Devgay:
Let’s meet at **** at 3 PM.
Nothing to explain. This is important! You rolled your eyes. “Dramatic much,” you muttered, dragging yourself out of bed.
Just then, you felt a soft brush against your foot.
"C/N… are you hungry?"
Your cat meowed softly in response, rubbing up against you.
"Aww~ okay, okay. I’ll get you some food first."
---
Later that afternoon…
“Y/N! Over here!” Dave waved both arms dramatically.
You spotted him standing in front of… a house? You stopped in your tracks and looked around, confused.
“Dave… is this your house?” you asked as you walked up to him. “This is definitely not a restaurant.”
He grinned like a kid hiding something. “Nope! Don’t worry, I’m not like Ziah. Come on—I wanna show you something.”
Without waiting for your reply, he pulled you inside.
The interior was simple, clean, and strangely homey.
“Hey Gie! Come here!” Dave suddenly called out.
You raised an eyebrow, confused. “Dave, what are we—”
“Hi there,” said a new voice.
You turned your head slowly… and froze.
It couldn’t be.
It was.
George. NotFound.Your eyes widened as you stared at him.
“Are you—are you GeorgeNotFound? The gamer?” you asked cautiously. He looked slightly uncomfortable but nodded.
“Yeah… I am. And you must be Y/N? Dave’s told me a lot about you.”
You whipped your head around to face Dave, who was beaming.
You grabbed his arm and dragged him a few feet away. “Dave! Why do you have so many secrets?! You know George?! He’s literally Quackity’s friend! Don’t tell me you know Quackity too—”
Dave laughed. “Girl, relax! I don’t know Quackity, I swear. George is my friend from high school. That’s it.”
You narrowed your eyes. “...That’s all?”
“That’s all, b*tch. Right now, you do you, because the answer to your 9-year crush is literally standing in front of you.”
You blinked. “Wait—you mean I could meet Quackity through George?”
He nodded. “Yup.”
“What do I do now?!”
“I don’t know.”
“ARGH, DAVE!”
“I REALLY don’t know!”
George looked over, curious. “Uh… how long are you two gonna whisper over there?”
You both turned to him.
“Oh! Sorry, we’re done now. Y/N just said ‘nice to meet you!’” Dave said quickly, elbowing you slightly.
“Nice to meet you too, Y/N,” George said, smiling warmly.
You nodded, still overwhelmed, and sat down as the three of you moved into the living room.
As they continued talking, your body began to feel heavier. The day had been a lot, and now, with GeorgeNotFound casually sitting across from you? Your mind was overloaded.
Without thinking, you lay down right on Dave’s lap, your eyelids already starting to close.
“Y/N’s falling asleep now,” George chuckled, full of energy. “She’s like me after a long stream.”
“Yeah,” Dave replied. “That’s how she is. Girl never sleeps like a normal person. Don’t worry, she’ll be fine.”
You felt someone shift beside you and a pillow being placed gently under your head.
“I don’t know when Quackity’s gonna invite me again,” George said thoughtfully. “I’ll go when he wants me to. Why?”
Dave shrugged. “Eh, no reason. Just curious. I don’t know him personally—but the girl currently passed out on my lap? She does.”
Oh my god, you thought. Should I open my eyes and slap him with a pillow?!
“Wait, really? She knows Quackity?” George asked.
“Yeah, watch my last livestream,” Dave replied casually. “Not about to give you a bedtime story right now.”
“But it’s not a bedtime story—”
“STFU, I know but if I tell you everything, you’re just gonna close your eyes halfway through like an old man.”
George laughed. “Alright, alright. Whatever. Anyway, you two can just crash here for the night. Y/N can sleep in the guest room.”
“What?! Why would I—”
“Then move. I’ll carry her myself,” George said with a smirk.
You felt arms lift you up gently, and you cracked one eye open. George was carrying you.
“Look! Y/N’s awake!” Dave grinned.
“Shut up, Dave,” you mumbled sleepily.
George opened the guest room door and placed you on the bed, surprisingly gentle.
You glanced at Dave, who stood in the doorway with his arms crossed.
“You’re lucky, girl. A gentleman carried you,” he teased.
“Don’t talk to me, Dave. I want to sleep.”
“I hope you step in mud tomorrow.”
“I hope you do too.”
“Goodnight, you two!” George called out cheerfully.
“Goodnight to you too, George! Love you!” Dave sang.
You groaned into the pillow. “I swear I’m gonna puke…”
But even with Dave’s ridiculousness, you couldn’t stop the tiny smile on your face.
You met GeorgeNotFound. This wasn’t a dream.
And maybe just maybe fate was giving you a sign.
You didn’t know yet.
But something was definitely starting.
