Y/N's POV

"Hey... I heard you're not friends with Ziah anymore?" Dave asked as he sat beside me, scooting his chair closer.

Dave my loud, dramatic, unapologetically gay best friend was never one to beat around the bush.

I let out a dry laugh and took a bite of my food. "Yeah... You know, I hate to say it, but she's honestly the most toxic person I've ever been friends with. I've been waiting for the right moment to finally end that friendship."

Dave raised an eyebrow, humming in agreement as he leaned in like he had a secret to spill.

"So..." he said, dragging the word with a playful grin, "how's your childhood friend-you know, the one you never shut up about? Did it work this time? Did he finally notice you?"

I shot him a glare but he hit me with his signature puppy eyes, practically begging for the tea.

I sighed with a smile. "I lost ten dollars because of him."

Dave blinked. "Huh?"

"I sent a donation during his stream. He looked at it... or maybe near it... I don't even know. And then-bam-he ended the stream."

I grabbed my water and took a sip before continuing, "But part of me feels like he did see it. He just stared at the screen for a while. Maybe he was thinking? Or maybe I'm just delusional."

Dave's face dropped for a second, then he clapped his hands together with a soft smile. "Girl, don't worry. He's definitely gonna remember you. You're unforgettable."

"Don't say that," I muttered, biting the inside of my cheek. "I don't wanna get carried away."

He gave me the most exaggerated side-eye I've ever seen.

"You know what? I'm never talking to you again," he said dramatically.

"Then don't. I don't care," I teased back.

He gasped. "Hehe, Y/N, you know I can't stay mad at someone like you."

"I know. Now come here and comfort me," I said, opening my arms.

He hugged me instantly.

"Ugh, ew. Y/N and Dave? That's disgusting."

Dave and I both turned. Standing in front of us, hands on hips and wearing a full face of fake disgust, was none other than Ziah. If she was still considered our friend... which, let's be real-she wasn't.

"The two of you make me want to puke," she added, scrunching up her nose.

Dave stood up slowly, already loading up the sass. I gently grabbed his arm to hold him back, but he was already on a roll.

"You know, Ziah, if there's anything more disgusting than the two of us, it's definitely you."

A chorus of "Oooh!" rippled through the people nearby.

Ziah's face turned beet red. "What did you just say?! Are you picking a fight with me, you gay-"

Dave didn't even flinch. "Oh? You're the one who started this, though."

He rolled his eyes in the most iconic, reality-show-worthy way.

"I hope you disappear from this world!" Ziah screamed.

"I'll let you in first!" Dave snapped back.

"GAY!" she shouted.

"CLOWN!" he fired.

Ziah was speechless.

She let out a frustrated groan and stomped away like a child who just lost at Uno.

Applause erupted around us.

"Wow... I can't believe you just roasted her like that," I said, grinning in disbelief.

Dave flipped his imaginary hair. "Well, someone's gotta protect you, girl. You're too soft for that mess."

"Thanks... I guess?"

"You guess?" he said, offended.

Later that evening, we headed to my place for a sleepover since tomorrow was our day off.

While I was making snacks in the kitchen, Dave called out from my room.

"Girl! Your Quackity is live!"

I peeked into my room, and sure enough, there he was streaming again. The sight of him made me smile without even realizing it.

"Omg, girl... this Quackity? So cute..." Dave said, clearly getting a little too interested.

I just shook my head and laughed. "Anyway, I better finish up or we're gonna burn the popcorn."

When I came back with the snacks, Dave was still watching the stream but his face was lit up like he'd seen a ghost.

"Hey! Hey! Y/N!" he shouted. "Quackity saw your donation from yesterday-and he said he knows you!"

I froze.

"What?"

My heart thumped.

Did he really remember?
