"You still loved me, but for me… it's different."
Quackity removed his arms from around you, and the sudden distance between you both felt like a crack in your chest."What do you mean?" you asked, your voice barely a whisper.
"I don't love you anymore... I mean—" he paused, running a hand through his bangs and avoiding your gaze. "I don't know what I feel right now. Everything feels… too fast."
He looked genuinely troubled, lost in his thoughts. You gently reached out and held his arm, giving him a soft smile.
"It's okay, Alex. If you don’t love me anymore, we can still be friends. Like we used to be."
Your voice stayed calm, but something heavy settled in your chest.Quackity looked distraught, like the weight of your kindness only added to his confusion. You turned away just as Dave stepped outside, George following him.
"Uh, guys... are you two—" Dave started, but you quickly cut in.
"Let's go, Dave. I want to rest."
Dave looked between you and Quackity, confused, but didn’t press it. He simply nodded and opened the car.
"Goodbye, Alex. And thank you, George, for everything," you said before stepping inside.
As the car pulled away, you glanced in the side mirror and saw Quackity standing there beside George. His figure grew smaller… until it disappeared.

[A Month Later]
You were scrolling through YouTube when you saw a new video from Quackity. He looked as lively as ever on camera—laughing, shouting, streaming like nothing had happened.
"Good for him," you whispered, smiling weakly.
Your phone buzzed.
Mom 💗: My lovely daughter, I miss you!You chuckled. Her birthday was tomorrow. She always had her ways of reminding you without saying it directly. You quickly replied:
Daughter 💗✨: I miss you too. I love you, Mom.
You packed your things, checked your list twice, and even brought your cat along—your travel buddy.
After dropping your cat at the vet for care, you made your way to the airport.
You sat by the window, the rumble of people around you fading as you took out your phone and posted a photo.

“Happy birthday to your mom. May you have a great day together with her… and him.”"‘And him?’ What does that mean?" you murmured.
The replies were flooding in:
“Who’s ‘him’??”
“Are you dating??”
“OMG is it her boyfriend??”
Your followers were clearly confused, but you were more confused by George's cryptic comment.
You sighed and leaned back. “Maybe a nap will help.”

[The Next Day – Your Mom’s House]
You stood outside the house with your bag over your shoulder and a small bouquet of flowers in hand. With a grin stretched across your face, you knocked.
“Happy Birthday, Mom!” you shouted.
The door opened, but it wasn’t your mom—it was Quackity.
Your heart skipped. He looked just as shocked.
“Y/N…?”Before either of you could speak, your mom walked up behind him.
“Alex, who’s—” Her eyes widened. “Mi hija!”She pulled you into a tight hug.
“I missed you so much.”
“Me too, Mom.”“Eh? Is that mi niña?” another voice came from inside.
Quackity’s mom peeked out, then gasped dramatically.
“¡Oh Dios mío! Mi hija!”She hugged you tight, tears glistening in her eyes.
“You’ve grown so much. You’re still my daughter, yes?”You blinked in confusion. ‘Did she just call me her daughter?’
Quackity scratched the back of his head, clearly flustered. His mom was already whispering to yours in rapid Spanish. You caught nothing except for “niña,” “corazón,” and “futuro.”You followed them into the dining room. Other women were there—your mom’s friends.
“Is that your daughter? She’s gorgeous!” one said.
You bowed slightly, embarrassed. “Thank you.”Then a woman named Laura spoke.
“This is my son, Luke. He’s around your age.”You turned—and nearly gasped. Luke was handsome, with kind eyes and a shy smile. He nervously extended his hand.
“Nice to meet you, Y/N.”
You smiled and shook it. “Nice to meet you too.”“Don’t go falling in love too fast!” Laura teased, and you giggled politely.
Suddenly, a hand landed on your shoulder.
“Excuse me, ma’am, can I get that cake?” Quackity asked with a forced smile.
Luke handed it to him.
“Gracias, mi amigo,” Alex said through gritted teeth. He leaned in close—so close his breath tickled your cheek.
“You want some too, Y/N?”You nodded dumbly, his eyes locked on yours.
“Then let’s eat on the sofa.” He winked and walked off.Laura leaned into your mom.
“Wait… are they dating?”Your mom chuckled.
“They have a complicated history.”You sat on the sofa beside Alex as he cut slices of cake.
“You know,” he said quietly, “I thought I didn’t love you anymore.”
You looked at him, startled.
“What changed?”He shrugged. “Seeing you again… it brought everything back. The way you smile, the way you talk. I’m just scared.”
You took his hand. “We don’t have to figure everything out today, Alex.”
He squeezed your hand gently.
“But I want to. This time, I don’t want to miss my chance.”And for the first time in a long time, you both smiled—not just out of politeness, but from something real, something quietly rekindling.
