“Are you two okay?” George asked, his gaze flicking between me and Quackity.
We looked at each other briefly before turning back to him.
“Yes,” I answered softly.
“Yeah,” Quackity echoed, his tone more serious than usual.
George nodded, then turned to look at Clay—better known as Dream—who was seated nearby.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Dream asked, confused by George’s intense stare.
George only shrugged casually.
Dream rolled his eyes and stood, heading toward the kitchen area of the house. We were all currently hiding out at Dream’s place. Thankfully, no one had seen us when George, Clay, and Quackity picked me up from school earlier. It was a close call, but we made it.
“Y/N, Dave asked where you were,” George said as Dream returned with snacks. “Should I tell him?”
“You should ask me first,” Dream cut in with a slight smirk, placing the food on the table and sitting back down.
“Why?” George raised an eyebrow.
Dream leaned forward dramatically. “Because this is my house, in case you forgot.”
Quackity burst into laughter, quickly covering his mouth with his hand. “What the—hey! Don’t laugh, Quackity!” George snapped, clearly irritated but trying not to grin.
Quackity just kept laughing, while George tried to calm himself. Dream, on the other hand, went back to his usual introverted self—staring at the snacks like he was debating whether he even wanted them. I couldn’t help but giggle at the whole scene.
“Alright then,” George said, rolling his eyes. “I’ll tell Dave you’re safe and you’re... with your shitty boyfriend.”
Quackity narrowed his eyes at him. “Hey, hey, hey—George! How dare you call me that? You of all people? You’re—” He paused. “You know what, never mind. I won’t say it. I don’t want you to cry.” He gently placed his arm around my shoulders, smiling smugly.
George clearly knew what he meant and flipped him off. “Man, f*ck you.”
“Yeah,” Quackity grinned.
“Both of you shut up and eat,” Dream interrupted. “Anyway, Y/N, how did Quackity even ask you to date him?”
“Yeah!” George jumped in. “Seriously, how did this little weirdo even manage to get a girl to say yes?”
Quackity’s eyes went wide. “Are you both really asking her that right in front of me?! What about you two? Where are your girlfriends?”
Silence.
George and Dream exchanged looks, visibly stung.
“You hurt my feelings, man,” Dream said dramatically, placing a hand over his chest like he’d been shot. George started patting Dream’s back, acting as if he was grieving a tragic loss.
Quackity stood up, clapping his hands together with mock seriousness. He turned to me with a soft look.
“Let’s go outside,” he said.
I nodded, standing up to join him.
As we walked toward the door, Dream called out. “Hey, hey! Where are you two going? Don’t go too far, mate.”
Quackity glanced back at him. “Relax. We’re just going outside. It's not like we’re gonna do that,” he said, winking.
My face turned bright red. I turned my head, hiding it as best I could, but I could feel the heat crawling up my cheeks.
