I felt a bit uncomfortable because Quackity was sitting right next to me on the sofa, eating a slice of cake. People were scattered all around the room, chatting, laughing, and celebrating. The atmosphere was light, but my heart was anything but.

“Hey, Y/N,” Quackity’s voice broke the tension. His tone was serious, and his gaze wasn’t on me—it was fixed on the kitchen, where his mom was helping mine prepare the next round of food.

I raised a brow and glanced at him. “What is it?”

He turned his head slowly to face me. “I’ve been thinking about it ever since the day you confessed… maybe now is the right time. I’ve finally found my answer.”

He casually picked up his fork, sliced into the cake, and took a bite like it was just any other conversation. But it wasn’t—not for me. I braced myself, already fearing the worst. Just as I was about to stand and escape the conversation, he gently held my waist, pulling me back down into my seat.

“Hey—what are you doing?” I whispered, panicking slightly. His grip was firm but gentle, and I could feel the warmth of his hand through the fabric of my dress.

“I love you too,” he said.

My eyes widened, and my breath hitched. I glanced around, nervous that someone might’ve overheard, but no one seemed to notice.

“Wait... this is so fast—” I began, still trying to process everything.

He cut me off. “I love you, Y/N. I was so overwhelmed that day… I didn’t know how to process my feelings. I needed time to understand myself. But now—now I know.” He looked directly into my eyes. “Will you be my girlfriend?”

We stared at each other for a few seconds that felt like hours, and just then, both our moms walked into the room.

“Hey sweethearts! What are you two staring at each other for? Don’t tell me—” my mom said playfully.

I quickly stood up and grabbed Quackity’s arm. He looked a little startled but went along with it.

“I’ll talk to Alex for a bit,” I said, pulling him out of the room.

Once we were outside, I turned to him. “Alex, what are you saying right now? Are you being serious?”

He sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair. “I was faking being serious earlier,” he admitted, frustrated. “I was so messed up that day… I didn’t know what to say or do. I wasn’t even sure what I was feeling, but I know now.”

He took both of my hands in his. His fingers trembled slightly. “Would you be my novia, Y/N?”

I looked up into his eyes. They were filled with honesty and a vulnerability I hadn’t seen before. My tears fell before I could speak.

“Hey, are you okay? Why are you crying?” he asked, wiping them away with his thumb.

“I… I love you too, Alex.”

“Is that a yes?” he asked softly.

“Yes,” I whispered.

He pulled me into a hug, wrapping his arms around me tightly like he never wanted to let go.

The party was still buzzing with excitement when Y/N and Quackity stepped back inside.

Alex’s mom noticed them right away. “Oh, you two are back! What were you doing, hmm?” she teased.

Quackity let out a laugh. “Oh, nothing, mamá. Just talking about cake flavors,” he said, trying to play it cool.

Y/N giggled beside him, and their moms didn’t push it further. But the look they gave each other said everything—they knew something was up.

Later, as the party died down, the secret couple sat side by side.

“Are we keeping this between us for now?” Y/N asked.

Quackity nodded. “Yeah. Let’s just tell Dave and George for now. Our moms will never let us live it down if they find out too early.”

Y/N laughed. “Agreed. Let’s wait for the right moment.”

A week had passed since Mom’s birthday. Alex and I had stayed at her house a bit longer before heading back. His mom drove us to the airport, dropping us off at our respective flights. I looked at Alex one last time before boarding.

“I’ll miss you,” he whispered. “Take care. I love you.”

We hugged tightly before going our separate ways.

–––––– Back home, I had barely unpacked when Dave stormed into my room.

“What?! Quackity is your boyfriend?! Are you serious right now?” Dave shouted loud enough for the neighbors to hear.

I had him on the phone with George, who was equally shocked. “Bro! He didn’t even tell me!” George exclaimed.

“Guys, calm down,” I said, laughing. “We’re keeping it private for now, so don’t go announcing it to the world.”

George sighed. “Fine, fine. But congrats to you both! I’m happy for you.”

Dave chimed in, “Yeah, congrats girl. But... long distance? That’s tough.”

I nodded. “We talked about it. We’re ready for it.”

George added, “If you’re both serious, you’ll make it work. Just communicate.”

“Thanks, guys,” I said with a warm smile.

Dave ended the call and walked to my window. “Anyway, we have school, remember?”

My eyes widened. “Oh no! I forgot! Dave, why didn’t you remind me sooner?!”

He laughed. “Because you dropped the ‘I-have-a-boyfriend-now’ bomb on me!”

The first day back was hectic. Dave and I barely made it in time.

“Look who’s back—the dynamic YouTube duo,” Ziah sneered, chewing gum obnoxiously as always. A group of guys trailed behind her like lost puppies.

Dave rolled his eyes. “You really know how to ruin someone’s morning.”

Ziah flipped her hair. “Whatever. Y/N, you look awful today.”

Dave stepped forward, ready to snap, but I stopped him. “She’s not worth it,” I said calmly. “Let her live in her little drama bubble.”

We both laughed and kept walking.

“At least you’ve got a perfect boyfriend now,” Dave teased with a wink.

I smiled. Yeah. Even if he’s far away… he’s still mine.
