Chapter 5 - Training A New Recruit

The training ground was full of knight's in pairs and threes training. Nixie walked out, wearing a suit of armour, just fitting her. Before she took her sword from her belt, she looked and watched every knight training.

The closest knights of the king, were the only knights missing, she was confused and puzzled as to where they were. Before she knew it Adela  grabbed her hand and dragged her in the direction of the castle, Adela ran in front encouraging her to follow into a small maze like garden.

It had tall green bushes around the perimeter, with a cut out archway to enter and exit through. There was targets around the grounds and stands with swords and weapons in it. Percival and Leon, Gwaine and Lancelot, Elyan and Mordred were training working on defence.

"What is this place," Nixie asked with amazement. Taking in all the surroundings.

"It's my garden, but i like to use it for training and having fun. And also where i can come and sit and be myself," Adela told her. "We can get away from my fathers rules," Nixie smiled and looked around at the flowers and bushes.

"I think you should do some training" Nyx shouted, giggling like a little girl.

Leon grabbed her hand a pulled her to small stone bench for her to sit and watch. Before walking back to Percival to train. Gwaine and Mordred paired up and Elyan and Lancelot paired up.

"I am going to help you work on your attack and defence," Adela said, pulling her sword out of her belt.

"What do I exactly do, i mean i know the basics," Nixie asked. she looked to the ground ashamed of not knowing how to fight well.

"Don't worry, I will get Percival and we can show you," Adela smiled, before walking over to her husband and pulling him back to where Nixie was standing.

"I will attack Percival and attempt to get him on his back," Adela told Nixie. The other knights smirked. They sat at the side next to some flowers and watched. Nixie sat next to Nyx giving Adela and Percival the whole space.

"Are you ready," Adela asked. Percival nodded and gripped his sword.

Adela took a swing of her sword at Percival, but he blocked it, pushing back making Adela spin around. She kicked behind her kicking up to Percival's chest pushing him back a step.

He grabbed onto her ankle pulling her with him. She pulled her body up to his chest and rested her hands on his shoulders.

"Prepare to go through some pain, Sir Knight," She whispered into his ear. Pushing out from under her, Adela pushed off of Percival's chest and into the air.

Percival's eyes widened and flew back landing on his back, hitting his head against the ground. Adela flew back as well not being able to get round to her feet. Nyx and Nixie hid their faces not wanting to see.

Mordred jumped to his feet, running over, reaching out to catch Adela. Catching her and falling to the ground with her on top.

"Haha, thank you," she got up and walked over to Percival, who looked dead on the ground. Adela sat on his stomach,looking down at him with a raised eyebrow.

"You are so bad at pretending to be passed out," she said to him. He opened his eyes pulling her to the ground and flipping over on top of her.

"No I am not, you just know me to well," Percival replied grinning down on her.

Everyone went back to training. Adela walked back over to Nixie and pulled out her sword, raising it up ready to fight back. Nixie pulled her sword from the ground and rose it taking a swing at Adela.

Adela defended herself pushing Nixie's sword away from her, then taking a swing to Nixie. Nixie ducked under the sword and rolled out of reach. Getting up she swung her sword getting Adela's attention, and with the other hand pushing her to the ground.

Adela looked up at Nixie about to take the sword to her chest. Grabbing her sword she blocked Nixie's sword. Adela pushed Nixie back with her feet, giving her enough time to get up from the ground.

Adela spun around swinging her sword, missing Nixie by millimeters, and pushing her to the ground with her shoulder. Nixie rolled over and up to her feet.

"Well done Nixie, that will do for today. I am sure we will be able to get you into the way of fighting in a matter if days. Soon you will be able to come out on quests with us," Adela said with a smile.

Nixie smiled back, "Thank you, Adelaide,"

"Now go get cleaned up," Adela said, still with a smile on her face. Nixie left the gardens and walked back into the castle to her chamber leaving the rest behind.

Adela and Nyx sat back on the grass watching their husbands and friends training, take swings and almost hitting each others head.

"Nixie is getting better don't you think, next time you can pair up with her and get her working on defence, as you are better at that than me," Adela said. Nyx turned and laughed.

"That is true. You just go straight in for the kill," Nyx replied, still laughing. "But might be a while before I'm back training,"

"What is that meant to mean, straight in for the kill," Adela turned and looked at her with a curious facial expression.

"I mean you are better at attack, and being able to get Percival on his behind," Nyx replied, bursting out with more laughter. Adela burst out with laughter as well falling back and lying back on the grass, looking up at the battlements and towers, as well as the cloudless sky.
