The round table was filled, except from Gwaine place next to Percival. Leon read out the patrols report as everyone was silent and looked like they were about to fall asleep.
Leon finished and looked over to the empty space expecting to see a sleeping Gwaine, then realising he had no yet returned. He sat down and turned his gaze to Arthur, who was getting out of his seat to a dress the council.
"Now, we have gone 3 weeks since we have found out that Gwaine is in Morgana's grasp, we have tried so many ways to rescue him, we need a new plan," Arthur spoke out.
"We could try and impersonate some of the guards again," Elyan suggested.
"No, we can't Morgana has a patrol around the castle watching everyone now," Percival replied to Elyan, looking empty.
"What if we create a diversion and someone seeks in and gets him?" Mordred asks.
"That could work, but what kind of diversion?" Adela replied also looking fresh out of ideas.
Everyone stopped and thought for a moment, if the knights started a battle, it would be never ending, They had tried everything. How could they rescue their friend, and not start an endless war.
"What if only two people go, they scale the wall, sneak in and grab Gwaine. No diversion and no one should know they are there," Merlin spoke from behind Arthur.
"That could work, but who do we send, nobody knows the castle," Arthur replied.
"Nixie knows, she was with Morgana, until she help me to get away from her," Adela told her father, reminding him about those events from some time ago.
Nixie quickly turned her gaze to Adela and then to her father.
"Is this true, do you remember your way around and could you help to get him back?" Arthur asks Nixie.
Nixie nodded and relied, "Yes Sire, I can get to the cells and out without being seen,"
"Great, you will go and be accompanied by...." Arthur orders but is cut off by Adela, looking up with the realisation.
"Merlin...you will go with Merlin. You may need a physician for Gwaine," Adela turned looking up to Merlin.
"Yes, Merlin will accompany you," Arthur agrees, but wasn't to sure about that idea, "You will leave tomorrow at first light."
Merlin leaned down and whispered to Arthur, "I don't like scaling walls," Arthur rose his shoulders, and began to pat his shoulders. "Go get prepared Merlin,"
Nixie nodded once more and listens to other reports from the knights on different patrols.
The council began to drag on, but all the reports had been read and it was now over.
Adela turned to her father, and whispers something in her ear. Arthur stands up with all the knights looking a bit confused.
Leon clicked he knew what Adela had said or at least thought he knew and looked at her. A big grin came a cross her face, it was definitely that. He knew she woke have told him to do this at some point, they were going to find out sooner or later.
"One last thing before we leave today, I would like to congratulate Sir Leon and Lady Nyx. In the early hours of this morning Nyx gave birth to a baby girl. They have named her Rosalind, after a beautiful rose,"
"That is because her hair is red like a rose," Leon replied, the knights all grinned and clapped.
The other knights congratulated Leon, still clapping as he walked out the room. The knights exiting to room till all that was left was Arthur, Adela, Percival, Mordred and Elyan.
"What if Morgana finds out about Baby Rosalind, I hate to think what she would do to her," Arthur tells them.
"I am sure Leon wouldn't let anything happen to Rosalind... or Nyx for the matter. They are both like his gold," Percival replied, then turning to Adela, "Just like Adela is like gold to me. Leon would lay down his life for them."
Arthur nodded, "You are right, you can go,"
The remainder of the council, took to their feet and walked out the council chamber in different directions. Arthur too walked out the chamber and to his chambers to look for his queen.
**************
Two horses waited ready for Nixie and Merlin to leave. They both mounted up, pushing the horses into a canter. Venturing off into the woods towards Morgana's castle. As the arrived into view of the large building.
"We will leave the horses here, there is a blind spot that we can climb," Nixie began, "then the stairway down to the cells are around the corner,"
"Do we have to scale the wall?" Merlin questioned.
"Sadly, yes we have to," Nixie replied.
They crouched down staying out of sight, edging their way over to the castle wall. They began to ascend. Slowly they managed to climb up the castle, they made their way up.
Nixie managed to pull herself into the top window, turned to help Merlin in.
"Right, this way," Nixie pointed down the corridor. They wondered round the corner making sure none of Morgana's guards were in sight.
"We just need to go down theses stairs and we should find him," Nixie nodded running towards the stairs. Merlin followed closely just missing the sight of a guard trooping around the corner.
The cells were dark, the touches were untouched, and no sight of Gwaine
"Merlin, this doesn't feel right,"
"Your right there Nixie," a voice from the dark came, "You honestly think I would hide Gwaine in the cells, I'm not going to make it easy for any of you,"
"WHERE IS GWAINE?" Nixie shouted.
"You need to open your eyes, maybe he's hiding in plain sight," morgana wickedly laugh. Her eye lit up through the darkness and then black.
Merlin and Nixie were once again standing in the woods next to their horses.
"What happened?" Merlin asked, looking around at his surroundings.
"Gwaine isn't in the castle," Nixie replied. "We need to get back to Arthur,"
