Valentina thought, 'Justiniano wasn't lying when he said it would get prettier as they left the metro area.' "I see the streets are very curvy coming out of the metro area." "Yes Valentina, mostly on the outskirts of Spain the streets are this way." She looked towards the back seat and saw that her sister was still sleeping soundly.
"Justiniano, now tell me, do you know the real reason why my uncle Bartholomew killed our father? At the time I was young and the first thing that came to mind was that he just hated my father and also that he wanted to control the coven but when I saw that he also killed my mother and everyone in the coven well I knew it was not as I thought."
With a disconsolate heart, Justiniano knew this question was coming and he had wished it hadn't but it was time she knew. "Valentina, it was known throughout the covens that the grand elder of the temple coven, Magnus Xander, who is your grandfather was seeking a certain happiness. Happiness that no one thought would ever be possible and thought your grandfather crazy but he being the grand elder kept quiet. Your uncle wanted to give your grandfather that happiness to be in his good graces as the favorite of the both was your father. Your grandfather always said your uncle was an egotistical, envious evil man."
"He says that but he has never done anything to him about killing my father so words are words until I see him do something so, please get on with it." "One day a miracle happened and your parents were able to provide your grandfather with what he wanted. Only your parents were able to give your grandfather the happiness he had longed for, for eons when no one else thought it could be possible your parents found a way. When your uncle found out that your parents had found a way and that your grandfather had given him the kingdom of the covens you could imagine how he yelled and the fury that built up inside of him."
"He went to your grandfather asking him if he was sure he hadn't been deceived. Your grandfather said the events were real and by a mark and as they had been noted in the book of Life for eons and had him removed and since he could not kill his father he went after your father for giving your grandfather the happiness he wanted for so long, which as the tears I see coming down you know that I'm talking about Isabella and you. Because your parents gave your grandfather two pure heirs as your mother was turned, she was not mortal."
"The reason he killed the coven was so no one would quickly run to the temple coven to let your grandfather know what he was doing and thus give him time to escape and also so there wouldn't be any witnesses to the atrocity of how he killed your parents."
"Justiniano, the whole controversy about my parent's death has been our birth? you're telling me that the reason my parents died was to make some old man happy?" Having to answer yes to those questions broke his heart into a thousand pieces but she had to know the answer. She had to know what had happened and the why's.
"Valentina, I wish it wasn't so but the truth of the matter is yes, your uncle killed your parents because they found a way to have children. All your grandfather wanted to be was a grandfather and everyone knew that would be impossible as vampires don't procreate but he knew your father would be smart enough to figure it out and he did, your grandfather never knew it would cost him his beloved son's and daughter in law life and the loss of his granddaughters in the end."
By then Isabella had awoken and sat listening quietly having caught up by reading all in Valentina's memory. Which wasn't much because she seemed to be in a haze of some sort, she figured she needed to feed some and she'd get that later.
"Your birth," he spoke as he looked at Valentina, "was kept a secret from everyone, even from your grandfather because your father didn't want anything to happen to your mother or you. This was a miracle and the only ones trusted was a chamberlain who came into their coven room to attend to your mother who would bring her a vessel every other night to keep her fed and attend to all her other needs."
"On the night you decided to enter the realm of the night seekers there was no water breaking because your mother had learned that as she was not human there was no amniotic fluid protecting you in her womb but there was what could be considered a vampire's version of an amniotic sac which was a blood 'cushion' and that was what broke. She was having labor pains just like any mortal and about 1:00 a.m. When the coven all went out to search for vessels and with the help of the chamberlain you Valentina Zaria were born."
