Isabella thought that on her way to the mansion, or on the way to any part of Spain she would be seeing beautiful scenery, lots of different bright colored flowers, green foliage.
In most all the movies she had seen that took place in Spain or Europe, it was mostly always sunny and flowery, roses being the central part of the theme. Now being there she saw all was an illusion. All that lined the streets were office buildings and towards the back area, apartment buildings and condos.
Justiniano didn't have any special abilities but he could perceive more or less what was going on with those around him just by looking at them. As such he knew what Isabella must have been thinking which was probably what most tourists thought when they came to Spain.
Many went by the beautiful photos they saw in the brochures at the travel agencies or the scenes on the posters there and at the airports. Others from the scenes of movies, and soap operas, do not think that was all a fantasy.
They didn't understand how much marketing played into their vacation and how when their travel agent would show them a 'better deal' it wasn't because she/he was being nice but because it was part of their job to try to sell said country to the public, part of tourism. They needed to make the country look beautiful, the beaches, the night lit by the stars to the honeymooners, etc., otherwise people would not visit if they were shown the slums and dirty streets of Spain.
When they looked through the travel agency brochure or travel guide books of Spain everyone got lost in the photos of the wine yards in full bloom in the wine regions such as Navarra, Valencia, Catalonia, and Rioja. Another thing that opened their eyes was the wineries that offered free samples of their wines, which was a big thing for the tourists.
For those who didn't drink wine but enjoyed beautiful things, the Rose Garden in the heart of Madrid was the card to be played with them. It was close to the Plaza of Spain was free and you didn't have a reservation. And for art lovers the Prado Museum and the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum.
"Isabella, don't worry, not all of Spain is this hideous, for now, certain parts are like the metro part of Basque as they are doing much construction because of an earthquake we had a couple of months back but I promise you that when we get into Rioja it will look much prettier." Isabella looked at him thinking maybe he had read her mind. Then she looked at her sister as Valentina's abilities were stronger and she could know for sure.
Justiniano saw the look that Isabella gave Valentina and instantly was nervous because he knew what could happen. He knew that if they thought he could read their mind they could kill him in a heartbeat and he wasn't strong enough to protect himself from them. Although he was like them he had been turned, he was not a pure-blood vampire and at that a royal pure-blood vampire which made them stronger especially Valentina who was the eldest.
For ages, it was thought impossible for vampires to procreate but Lucius and Celestina had found a way and proved to everybody that when you want something bad enough no matter what or who you are, life will give it to you. And with Lucius and Celestina, life saw it fit to give them what they wanted twice. That was another reason that his brother Bartholomew wanted him dead.
Knowing Valentina could read his mind, 'I didn't read her mind, I don't have abilities, it's just that I saw how she was looking out the window and deduced from that what she was thinking' Valentina started to laugh and told him to calm down and not to worry.
She then turned to Isabella who was so tired that she couldn't read Valentina's mind to know what was going on, "Isabella, he did not read your mind, don't get your feathers ruffled, why don't you sleep until we get to what will be our new home?" "I think I will." She drank the rest of her 'meal', laid down, and was out like a light.
