It's Sunday. There's a restaurant that Taehyung takes Yoongi to— says he's owned the restaurant for years, but hardly ever stopped by until recently, when he started going to Brighton High School just for funzies.
Yoongi brought his metal cup of blood, but he leaves it in Taehyung's car in hopes to get a cup of coffee instead. Seokjin and Jungkook are the two that told him people are crazy for thinking vampires don't like the taste of normal food— "We aren't crazy," Seokjin had said and Jungkook topped it off with, "Yeah, as long as you have enough blood in your system, your taste buds still work— at least mine do."
The two get weird looks from Jimin, but they end up teasing Jimin for being so hateful towards the idea of eating normal food instead of just sipping blood all the time. Jimin calls them weird for eating steaks that hardly even have grill marks on them to show they've been cooked in the slightest, tells them that people will start to notice, but Jungkook just smiles and says he doesn't care.
Yoongi tries to do what Taehyung and Jungkook do with their steaks. They order the same thing at the restaurant— Yoongi gets coffee with his steak but Taehyung gets cola with his.
"Coffee with steak," Taehyung hums. "Interesting choice."
Yoongi chuckles. "It's a weird combo, yeah, sue me."
Taehyung puts his hands up in front of his chest in defense. "No suing will happen here, I promise." He takes his glass of cola as the waitress hands it to him and as she walks away, Taehyung chuckles to himself as well.
"Why are you laughing over there?"
He looks at Yoongi and the second their eyes linger, Yoongi looks away. "The waitress," Taehyung utters just as he turns his head to look for her again. "She flirted with you once, before we got together."
Yoongi looks in awe at Taehyung.
"I- I wasn't expecting you to say that, honestly." He clears his throat and sits up straighter in his seat across from Taehyung's. "I don't think I've ever been flirted with. I find it hard to believe."
At this, Taehyung scoffs, setting his drink down and looking at Yoongi like he's crazy. "Kwan flirted with you, she even kissed you. Even that asshat best friend of yours flirted with you just to get under my skin."
"Seokjin?"
Taehyung grimaces. "No. God, no. I'm talking about Siwoo."
Yoongi also grimaces. "Oh. I remember that now. When I first woke up, right? When he took me to his place." For a moment, Taehyung is silent. He simply nods his head. Yoongi decides to change the subject. "So... I graduate in a few weeks."
"You do."
Their food is delivered to the table and Yoongi wonders if the waitress will flirt with him again because the way she smiles flirtatiously at him, but Yoongi quickly stops Taehyung from picking up any utensil just so that he can intertwine their fingers over the table and show her he's taken.
Her smile drops and she walks away, flustered and clearly embarrassed.
Before Taehyung can say anything with that big grin of his plastered on his face, Yoongi groans, irritated. "I'm so tired of school. I'm eighteen, about to graduate, and I have no idea what I want to do with my life other than be with you guys."
Even though he's ranting, a soft smile appears on Taehyung's face. "You can just be with us until you figure it out, Yoongi. There's no rush— I mean, you'll live for so long that you can be everything you wanna be. Trust me."
Yoongi still sighs, but it's a relieved sigh. "Thank you." He lets go of Taehyung's hand after a reassuring squeeze from him. "I just hate being unsure. I graduate this month and I just... I wish I knew whether or not I had everything planned before I lost my memory, you know?"
"You love reading," Taehyung offers with a little reassurance in his tone. "Why don't you become a writer?"
Yoongi abruptly stops cutting his steak just to look up at Taehyung and smile. "That's not a bad idea," he says. Taehyung looks up as well, also stopping just to give Yoongi a smile.
"I'm sure you'd write beautifully, Yoongi."
———
Yoongi writes.
Studies and finals are over, he's rested enough that his month-long headache went away, and he's happy to graduate. So, he takes his free time before graduation and uses it to write.
Poems on sticky notes, lines that fit perfectly on a napkin, or even paragraphs of how he feels about certain things— about a certain someone. Everything he writes is either straight from his mind or straight from his heart with nobody else's input.
His heart, he realizes, does belong to Kim Taehyung. He doesn't know to what extent, but he knows where it belongs.
He writes poems about Taehyung. Lines that perfectly describe Taehyung. Paragraphs about how Taehyung makes him feel.
Taehyung, Taehyung, Taehyung.
The more he learns, the more excited he is to write about. He writes about Taehyung's warm brown eyes, the soft moles on his skin, the deep and soothing voice he has, how comforting his hug is, and how the smallest things he says or does makes him blush and smile.
He hangs out more often with Taehyung and they're friends of course, but Taehyung always knows just what to say to make Yoongi remember that they weren't just friends before all of this. They were becoming more than that.
He knows that Taehyung still likes him, but it feels like he's falling all over again— he is falling all over again.
A part of Yoongi feels happier than ever and he wonders if he's ever been this happy with Taehyung before, because sometimes when he looks at Taehyung's smile, it looks fond, but fresh, like he's also just realized that he's the happiest he's ever been with Yoongi. He wonders if they ever got the chance to be so happy.
Then he remembers.
Yoongi died right after they became boyfriends. They didn't get a chance to be this happy together.
So the real question is, is Taehyung happy with Yoongi even with his memory all gone, or is he still hesitant to take things further with Yoongi because of that? And more importantly, would he still be with Yoongi even if he never gains his memory back? Is it too much to ask?
