They lie on Yoongi's roof. This evening, all seven had gotten together at Yoongi's house. His mother loved that she got to cook a nice meal for all of them and though they don't always eat normal food, it's common for them to do so out of respect like at meetings, parties, or other occasions.
Taehyung remembers all the times that Yoongi's mom would offer snacks like freshly baked cookies or a tray of fruits and vegetables that came fresh from Yoongi's grandparents house. He loves Yoongi's mom.
And he loves how even though they don't have to breathe, he can see Yoongi inhaling the night air, closing his eyes and taking it all in. It's a beautiful night, clear skies, stars are out, and the moon shines down on them.
"You're staring."
Taehyung doesn't even hold back or flinch at the sudden statement. "I know."
They've been sitting in silence for about ten minutes now. Throughout the night, they've spoken about so many things and it isn't that they ran out of things to talk about, but the silence falls over them perfectly. Taehyung likes this about them; they can enjoy each other's presence.
"So, now what?" Taehyung asks him. "You graduated, the big dinner is over, and now you have choices to make."
Yoongi groans and turns over onto his side, facing Taehyung. "This isn't fair," he says, pouting. "I worked my ass off to study all these things I've learned in the past two years and crammed it into a dumb test that I somehow passed, and now I've graduated and have no idea what it means. I don't feel like myself. I know this is the version of myself that I'm used to, but... I can tell that it's all wrong."
Taehyung frowns and turns to look at him as well. "Wrong?" he questions, still frowning because Yoongi looks a bit sadder than usual. "What do you mean, you can tell it's all wrong?"
Now Yoongi frowns. "I can feel it in my heart, Taehyungie." It feels like a stab to the heart, hearing Yoongi say this. The fact that he won't look Taehyung in the eye now also hurts. "It's like everything is all bottled up inside me, but I just can't let it go. All these memories are stuck in the back of my mind, and... I still have muscle memory, which makes it worse." He finally looks Taehyung in the eyes. "Like, I know I feel safe with you, but there's no real explanation as to why."
Taehyung gives him a pitying expression, which only makes Yoongi look away. He reaches up and brushes the hair from Yoongi's eyes and places his hand on his cheek.
"You don't have to force yourself to remember, Yoongi." He gives him a decently reassuring smile. "You're okay. Don't overdo it, alright?"
A defeated sigh leaves Yoongi and he nods. "I know, but I can't help it." He scoots closer to Taehyung and closes his eyes as he eases forward more, resting their foreheads against each other. It makes Taehyung smile. "This is all muscle memory," Yoongi reminds him.
They used to cuddle so much that it was easy for Taehyung to just pull him right in. Yoongi would easily slot into his arms.
"I know," he echoes in return.
He pulls Yoongi in by his waist and absolutely adores the way Yoongi's hands clench onto his shirt and his eyes shut tightly just seconds before he pushes his face into Taehyung's neck and settles there.
"Taehyungie..?" Taehyung hums and Yoongi holds even tighter, the grip on his shirt making it slip up a little over his tummy. "This may be dumb to ask considering I'm quite literally in your arms right now," Yoongi starts and Taehyung lets out a confused, yet intrigued chuckle. "Have you thought about what would happen if I don't get my memory back?" Taehyung's smile falls. "Would you still love me even if that happens?"
The question throws him off, but he immediately answers. "Yoongi, I'll love you no matter what happens. I've loved you since- like- the late 1800's."
"Jesus Christ." Yoongi pulls away and looks him in the eyes. "You really didn't fall in love with anyone else during all that time?"
"How could I?" Taehyung gripes with a pout on his face. "I spent all that time looking after my friends and looking for you; you were bound to cross paths with me, according to Hoseok's grandmother, and she was right. I believed in her."
Yoongi shakes his head in disbelief. "You must've been disgustingly in love."
"I was," Taehyung quickly says. "I am. And if you want my honest opinion, I always will be."
"You're so romantic."
Taehyung gives him a big grin. "So I've been told." He has to fight hard to make his grin die down. "Anyway, Yoongi, I will love you whether you get your memory back or not. I mean, it is quite disappointing that you might not remember me the way I remember you, but that's okay. I think I can live with that as long as you stay in my life."
Yoongi chuckles. "Right. 'Quite disappointing,' how vampire-y of you to say," he teases Taehyung, who simply roles his eyes.
"That's my answer. Take it or leave it."
Yoongi takes ahold of his hand and intertwines their fingers as he leans back in and presses his nose into Taehyung's neck.
"I'll stay in your life," he promises, "as long as you stay in mine."
Forever, Taehyung thinks. I'll stay in your life forever, Min Yoongi.
