MCD!Gene, Dante - Traitor

Idea: "Look at you, sacrificing yourself for others! When did you get a heart?"

Key:
Y/n = Your name
L/n = Last name

Warnings: Cussing, death, slight gore, two endings, really just Dante

The other side was winning. Of course they were winning. They were the good guys. Not Y/n, they were the bad guys. They came to Phoenix and began to attack it with the rest of the shadow knight army. Under Gene's orders. The army seemed to be no match for Lord Aphmau's people. She had too many powerful characters.

Damn her and her plot armor.

Watching from above, Y/n stood at the top of one of the guard towers. Their gaze harsh as they watched their side lose. They thought they could do this on their own or at least if they picked who came, they would be winning. But Gene just had to send a whole army.

Shadow knights fell at the feet of Phoenix Drop's guards. Y/n just watched as it happened. "Not even going to help your own kind?" Y/n looked over their shoulder and saw a flash of blue. They jumped to the side, inside the tower more. They grabbed their sword and put it to Dante's throat right after his attack. "I'll be helping by killing you."

Dante's grip on his katanas tightened. He moved his arm to hit his blade against Y/n's to knock it away from him. Using his other one, he attacked Y/n. They quickly dodged by ducking. Y/n then swept the floor with their foot to make Dante fall. Quickly, they put their foot on his wrist and pointed their sword to his other wrist.

"Shame, would have been a complete story if your own brother killed you. But here is his first in command. You got so close to that tragic hero story." Y/n smirked down at Dante. Then they heard something behind them. They got off Dante and used their sword to block an attack from Katelyn. Her punch was powerful enough to knock Y/n back. Especially since they weren't ready.

The male guard quickly got up as Y/n shot a glare at Katelyn. Despite being stopped, Y/n felt a wave of relief. As if they were glad she came and stopped Y/n from killing Dante. Like Y/n didn't want to kill him. They have never cared before, why start now?

Y/n looked at the two guards and tightened their grip. They swung their sword at Katelyn in a quick flash but she blocked it. Y/n's sword getting stuck in-between her 'claws'. Dante went to attack Y/n but they attacked quicker. They pushed and moved the sword so they could move Katelyn. They ended up being able to move her in-between Y/n and Dante. He quickly stopped his attack, stumbling a bit as to avoid hurting Katelyn.

Katelyn ripped a hand away and went to punch Y/n. Out of instinct, Y/n raised an arm to block it. This only caused them to get thrown back and now a hurt arm. Before they could get up, Dante kicked their sword out of their hand and put his sword to their neck.

Blood dropped from Y/n's arm, down to the wooden floor. Their gaze was harsh as they glared at Dante. Y/n's look seemed to have been threatening Dante, as if saying he didn't have the guts to kill Y/n. His gaze was much softer but still had a glare.

Finally, Y/n hit the back of the black then turned their hand to push it down as they stood up. They then jumped out of the tower. Katelyn quickly ran to the edge and watched Y/n run away. Dante stood next to her, watching as well. "Damnit. So close." He mumbled. "We need to work on you killing when needed." Katelyn turned and went to the ladder.

"So let me get this straight." Gene began, standing in front of Y/n, pinching the bridge of his nose. "You weren't able to kill Dante- or anyone for that matter. And you lose your sword?" He dropped his arms so they were now crossed. His glare shot daggers at Y/n. They gave him the same glare. "That is correct." Y/n said through their teeth.
