Only a select few knew about Y/n's powers. This is how they liked it. They had very powerful magic but they didn't like using much of it. They had it under control mostly but not all of it. So they tried not to use it too much. They'd only use it when it was absolutely needed, during training, or very rarely would they use it to prank people.

Travis was happy that he got to be the first person to know about their powers. He felt special to them because of this. Unknown to him, he was the only one to calm down Y/n when their magic got out of hand. Everyone saw this, except Y/n and Travis. No one said anything, everyone thought it wasn't their place. Though Aphmau and the guards did use this to their advantage.

The two would be paired together basically together, every time. This was to ensure safety to the village from Y/n without seeming rude about it. Sometimes Y/n would fight one of the other guards to see how they were doing. Though Travis was always nearby. Still, he didn't know why he was forced to stay during Y/n's training. Though, he never minded. He loved hanging out with them.

Recently things have been going downhill for Phoenix Drop. War was closing in on the village. Despite having so many powerful and skilled people, they were still greatly outnumbered. Some small attacks happen every now and again. Along with different bad things like that.

Some people were kidnapped. Some people were badly hurt. Some people are still missing. Some of their allies were turning against them or not helping them.

The stress was getting to Y/n but they kept it a secret. They calmed themselves down the best they could. Though, they couldn't do this forever. Travis though, he picked up on Y/n's stress. He could see the difference that was happening with them. Y/n wasn't as happy, not as talkative. They were always lost in thought. Sometimes they'd leave to calm down. Travis would be there for them whenever he thought they needed it.

He did his best to not let Y/n know that he knew. He could tell Y/n didn't want anyone to know about their stress so he respected their wishes.

Now, was another battle and things weren't looking good. Everyone was fighting multiple guards to the point no one could help each other. Some of the guards were wounded and had trouble fighting. Other fighters, like magic users or just skilled fighters, were also having trouble.

Some people were even getting knocked out of commission. Phoenix Drop's low numbers were getting lower.

Finally, Y/n decided they should use at least some of their magic. Knocking a few guards out of reach they put their hands in front of them before balling their fits. Everyone who was an O'Khasis guard stopped moving before they were all lifted up and thrown outside of the walls of Phoenix Drop. Y/n then looked at the gate and pointed a hand to it. The gate quickly shut. Then a f/c tinted, taller walls, showed up before they turned invisible. This was to stop the guards from immediately returning.

Y/n fell to their knees as their breath grew heavy. That was more magic they meant to use at once. They were still using it to hold the walls up, it didn't help that the guards were beating against it. The guards got on top of the gate wall to keep an eye on the O'Khasis guards. Magic users and other fighters, that could stand, went to the wounded ones to help them. Travis immediately ran to Y/n.

He slightly slid as he quickly got down on one knee and placed his hands on Y/n's shoulders. He pulled them close as they lent against him. "You did good, thank you." He put a hand on the back of their head. Y/n closed their eyes as they focused on their breathing. "You're welcome." They managed to breathe out. "Sh, save your breath. Come on, we need to get you and many others somewhere to rest." Travis stood up, making Y/n stand up.
