Death or life

Hail and rain pounded the ground and my cloak. The hood almost wriggled off my head.

In front of me was the house of the Sallows. Well, only Anne stayed hidden in there with her suffering and her worries. My blood boiled with anger. How could she be so incorrigibly angry at her twin brother? The last one of her relatives...

Darkness had fallen and all you could hear was the storm. A sound that only made me angrier. I saw the fire flickering in the fireplace, Anne sat next to it on a chair and read a book. She looked awful and when I saw how much she was suffering, it turned my anger off immediately.

I knocked on the door and a few seconds passed before she opened the door. The dark circles under her eyes were currently the only thing that looked good on her. Emaciated, sunken cheeks, trembling and bony fingers. Her eyes widened in shock as she recognized me.

"It's you!" Her bleak eyes scanned the area behind me to make sure I was alone. Disappointment welled up in me. How could she not even say my name after the past year. She should know me by now.
"What do you want from me?" she asked a little scared.

"Anne, I just wanted to talk with you. I could not stop worrying." I said with an empathetic smile.
"Are you alone?" she asked with a suspicious look on her face. I let a giggle out.
"At this time? With this Weather? Who should have joined me, in your opinion?" I wanted to know.

I knew exactly who she thought was joining me.
But little did she know that if he had come with me maybe she would not have to make dreadful decisions later.

"I thought that you and my brother are..." she drifted off. I pulled the hood off my head and entered the little house. I looked at her with an innocent smile.
"I don't know what you think of me Anne, but we're just friends" I stated and hung my coat on the hook. I made myself useful and went to the kitchen to make tea.

"I had not exactly guessed that. You two made a lot of mess. To put it nicely." I heard Annes weak voice. I froze. I will never understand why she didn't stand by her brother.
"We were trying to find a cure. Not for him, not for Ominis, for you Anne. Can you not see the good Intentions behind it?" I asked. I filled the cups with tea and brought them to the table where Anne was already seated.

"No I can not, my beloved uncle is dead. Only because of you two." she stated angrily. I let out a contemptuous snort.

"Solomon was a bad, bad man and you did not even care that he abused your own brother on a daily basis, while Sebastian only wanted to be your savior." I spoke and the memory of that disgusting man was enough to make my blood boil.

"What do you know about my uncle? You were only there to be closer to Sebastian" Anne responded. My mouth curled into a devilish grin. How ignorant of her. I had to pull myself together to not forget how vulnerable she was.

"Your uncle was a disgusting pig, who tried to make me disappear. In the cave he even tried to kill me and he almost did, if Sebastian had not stopped him" I said but did not let her respond.
"I have lost a lot of people as well, Anne. Good people who were fighting for a bigger cause. None like your uncle. And you want to blame me or Sebastian for something your uncle deserved? He wanted to take our life. And it wouldn't have been the first time your uncle had played with dark magic." I had enough of this nonsense so I stood up and realised Anne had started to cry.

"It's always easier to assign blame. I'm not saying Sebastian didn't do it. But there is a difference between dying innocent and dying justified." I explaind. Anne looked at me with tears in her eyes.
"You are a monster" she yelled. I completely ignored her statement.
