Egeus' POV

I took a deep breath and stepped out of the shadows. The Athenians gasped, and the soldiers inched their hands to their sword. I knew what they were thinking. That is one very big lion. I shifted to my hybrid form, and spoke to them.

"What are you?" Aurelius, an Athenian legislator asked me.
To their surprise, I spoke. "I'm a friend. Don't be afraid, because you see me everyday in another form."

"And what is that?" Cato asked.
"Please, if I show my human form, will you not judge me? Even though, my intentions are only for Athens and the welfare of its people." I retorted back.

"You sound like a nobleman," Marcus, a member of the senate shot back.

"That's because I am." Then I shifted to my human form, slowly. When I finished, they were all staring at me in shock, mouths agape.
Only the Pack was not surprised.

"Egeus?" Aurelius managed to squeak out. I nodded, my Phoenix eyes still shining in the darkness, for there loomed a fire that could freeze a man with fear.

I turned around, looking at them with my birdlike eyes, and they all cowered in fear. I shifted my eyes to my normal human eyes.

"You see?" I started, "I'm always there to protect Athens."
"You're a werelion?" Aurelius squeaked again.
"No, not really, yeah well technically yes." I answered back.
"Do you Therians have a king?" Cato asked.

I was surprised. Well, not really. Cato was good at myths and legends.

"I'm the Wild One. Does that count?"
