Chapter 18: Official

*A few years later

Things around the church had been hectic as of late, but you wouldn't change anything about it. With Terzo as papa the band's popularity grew as well as your congregation. Sister Imparator, along with being Copia's assistant, had also named you one of the provincial superiors. You mainly helped welcome and look after new sisters of sin. When you weren't with the sisters you still followed around your ever anxious Cardinal, still assisting him with his work. By now pretty much everyone in the church knew you and Copia were a couple, not that you tried to hide it either, but you did feel a little bad when a young sister would try to confess their feelings to him only for them to be told he was taken. There was one incident you remembered vividly...

*During a practice

"So, why is the Cardinal singing?"

"Papa is stuck in a meeting and it's easier for the ghouls if they have the lyrics as well. It also lets them test all of the sound gear."

The group of young sisters were bustling with excitement as the band set up for practice. Since Copia was covering for Terzo this practice you thought it would be a good idea to let them come and listen. Copia, wearing the red track suit he almost always wore on his day off, stood center stage as Kevin alerted them they were all set to go. The band then proceeded to play some fan favorites: Square Hammer, Zombie Queen, Year Zero, Mummy Dust. The younger sisters were loving it and so were you, noticing the many times Copia would look you in the eye and use his impeccable charm in an attempt to make you swoon. The band began to play the song He Is, allowing you the opportunity to hear some of the whispers coming from the younger sisters.

"Wow, the Cardinal is really attractive."

"I know, you think he's single?"

"I don't know, I've never seen him with anyone."

You chuckle to yourself as you continue to listen.

"Maybe we should ask him?"

"No way! Even if he's single theres no way he'd go for either of us, we're about half his age."

The song ended and everyone applauded while the band took a bow. After setting the mic back on the stand Copia began to make his way down to you and the sisters.

"No harm in trying."

You watch the young sister make her way over to Copia, who greets her with his cute smile. You watch them go back and forth until you watch her head lower and Copia place a reassuring hand on her shoulder. Finally he makes it over to you, taking your hand and kissing it.

"You sound great as ever, Copia."

"Is that so cara mia? Well, did the little ones enjoy the show?"

"Oh yes, I think you have a few big fans out here."

"Well, I'm sadly going to have to be a bit of a heartbreaker."

"Oh? How s-"

Before you could finish Copia pulled you into a steamy kiss, earning many reactions from the sisters. You playfully pushed him away.

"Oh what a naughty Cardinal you are~"

Copia chuckled and kissed your cheek.

"I'll meet you later, si?"

"Of course."

You turn back to the sisters to be met with a sea of many emotions: Joy, excitement, confusion and disappointment.

*Back to present day

"Sister Y/n?"

You looked down the hall and were surprised to see Sister Imparator.

"Yes Sister Imparator, how may I help you?"

"I need you to come to my office, it has to do with the Cardinal."

You follow her, seeing Copia already sitting inside. You take the seat next to him as Imparator sat behind her desk.

"Thank you for meeting with me and sorry it was short notice. To be frank, Terzo will be stepping down as papa."

You were shocked, you looked over and saw Copia's signature nervous face. You take his hand in yours, trying to comfort him.

"Now, Copia, I would like to appoint you as frontman for the band. Nihil is still not on board with you being papa, but consider this a test run for the position."

Copia, still nervous, nodded.

"Th-thank you Sister..."

"That is all for now. Obviously, sister y/n, you will be briefed on some of your new duties later on."

"Thank you Sister."

You and Copia made your way to your shared room.

"Copia, you alright?"

"S-si bella, I'm just worried for Terzo..."

"Why?"

"Well, he's not really stepping down... by choice."

"What?"

"At the last ritual he was dragged off stage and Nihil made an announcement."

"Oh..."

Having made it to the room Copia flops down on the bed, letting out a small groan. You decide to grab Cirice, and her new black rat friend Bea, from their cage and sit next to Copia.

"I'm sure Terzo will be fine, nothing happened to Primo or Secondo when they stepped down."

Copia rolled on to his back, allowing Cirice to crawl on his chest.

"And besides, even if something does happen, I'll be with you every step of the way."

Sitting up, Copia gives you a tender kiss, holding you close. You smile, feeling Cirice and Bea cuddle in your lap.

"I love you cara mia."

"Love you too Cardi."
