*During the events of Rite Here Right Now*
You were backstage with Imperator and the crew, slowly watching the show unfold. You could tell Imperator seemed nervous or a bit on edge.
"Are you alright, Sister Imperator?"
She sighs
"He's still so focused on the end, how he doesn't want it to be the end... so much like his father, I swear..."
You chuckle, finding it amusing
"He has ideas, he loves what he does... I think he's also worried because he feels you're ending it because you think he's not doing a good job... even a grown man wants his mother's approval, no?"
She sighs
"I told Nihil to talk to him..."
You chuckle
"I'm sure it'll be fine..."
...
After Copia finishes the main show, coming backstage and saying they weren't doing an encore. You were about to say something but Imperator beat you to it. You stand off to the side, listening to the conversation between Sister, Nihil and Copia. You were surprised at how genuine it was, especially from Nihil. Copia, after thanking Nihil, walks over and spots you. You give a soft smile as you see the tears in his eyes, gently squeezing his shoulders.
"Rock their socks off, yeah?"
He chuckles softly
"Si, amore..."
He puts on his sparkly blue jacket and heads out, ghouls in tow. You turn to look at Sister Imperator, the look on her face making it obvious that she's not feeling great. You nod, your quiet way of showing understanding.
During the performance of Square Hammer, you watch the crew begin to pack some things up, including Sister. You walk up to her, making sure she doesn't need anything.
"He's ready"
She says softly. You nod, a small smile on your face.
"Yeah, he is... He'll be great"
She nods, patting your arm in what you assume is her way of saying goodbye or thank you. You wait for Kevin to come over before going over to wait for Copia.
...
You check on Copia after he falls, making sure he's okay. You watch as he looks up, seeing Imperator on the ground. You see the distraught in his eyes, as if he's about to break but is trying to hold it together.
"Cardi?"
You ask softly. He doesn't look at you but finds your hand, squeezing it in his. You squeeze back, both of you watching as the ghouls cry over her body.
After a bit, Copia makes his way over to her body, crying over it. You can tell he's still holding back, but relieved he's not completely holding it in. You then see Sultarian make his way over, giving Copia a letter from Sister Imperator and watching as he learns he's now officially 'Frater Imperator'.
After everything is finished you make your way back to the ministry since the band has a few days before going back out. You put Dante and Maria to bed before making your way back to your room, seeing Copia sitting on the bed in his red track suit.
"Copia?"
You ask softly, slowly standing in front of him. He looks up at you, his eyes glassy.
"She's... gone..."
He mumbles. You gently cradle his face in your hands, gently kissing his forehead.
"I know amore... its okay, you don't have to hold it in..."
He lets out a shaky breath, hugging you and burying his face in your stomach. He begins to sob, mumbling things in italian you can't quite catch. You gently caress his hair, feeling your eyes become glassy as you watch him cry.
After a while he finally calms down a little, though he's still trembling slightly. You kiss his head gently.
"She was proud of you, you know... she may not have shown it, but she was... she is..."
You say softly, gently moving to sit on the bed. Copia looks at you, his eyes red and bags under his eyes. You can tell he's lost, not really sure what to say or do. You gently wipe away a few tears.
"I'm here... your children are here... It's okay to be sad, but you aren't alone. You don't have to suffer alone and you don't have to face this new role alone..."
You whisper, gently taking his hands in yours. You then squeak in surprise as Copia suddenly hugs you, pulling you down onto the bed. He hugs you tightly, as if afraid you'll disappear if he lets go.
"Don't..."
He mumbles. You sigh, hugging him back.
"We're not going anywhere... I'm not going anywhere."
You both end up falling asleep like that, in each other's arms and faced with this foreign land you now have to navigate.
