Intro

My mother always told me that a baby bird has the potential to fly, it just needs to embrace it. By that time, I was 5, so I didn't understand what that meant. But now, I understand what it means. I can explain it through my story. I call it 'Fly'.

Chapter 1

I was sitting in 9th period class, Math. I was so busy thinking about my path from my seat to the door, that I didn't hear Mrs. Cari talking about the problem.

"Emily, what is the answer to the problem?"

"Umm, 35?" Everyone was giggling.

"No, I do not think that 34 x 8 is 35" I probably should've been listening.

The bell rang and I jumped out of my seat as fast as I could and ran to the door. Unfortunately, I wasn't fast enough. Cara Jones grabbed me by my collar and stopped me in my tracks.

"Where do you think you're going?" She asked in a bully kind of way.

"Home," I struggled to say.

"Well, unless home is a room full of pain, you're not going anywhere." She punched me, kicked me, and slapped me.

I jumped out of her grasp, running as fast as possible to get home and just escape the torturous people of high school. I took the nearest bus home so I wouldn't have to wait much longer.

I unlocked the door with my hot pink key and tried to make it seem like nothing had happened. I put on my purple hoodie to hide my face from mom. "Oh, hey Emily, how was your day?" mom asked. "Fine," I responded. She came to give me a kiss on the forehead. I didn't want her to for 2 reasons. 1, because I didn't want her to see what Cara did to me, and 2, because it's just plain gross.

She lifted up my purple hoodie and gasped the second it lifted off my face. "Oh, my gosh! What happened to you?" mom asked me in complete concern. I had a slightly bloody nose, a black eye, and a gash in my forehead.

Mom rushed me into the bathroom, both cleaning up my face and asking what happened. I told her what Cara had done to me and that I had to take the city bus home. She was disappointed by the time I was cleaned up.

"You always come home with terrible injuries and hurt feelings. Why?"

"I've tried being myself and that didn't appeal to her, and then I tried to change to a cooler me, and that still doesn't please her." I explained to her.

"Listen, sweetie. You don't have to be someone you're not. A baby bird has the potential to fly, it just needs to embrace it."

"Okay mom, you've told me this a thousand times."

She helped me to my room and gave me some soup. I was feeling so sore, so I didn't feel like moving much.

Once I finished my soup, I set it out on my desk and grabbed my laptop to finish up my project. We had a Geography project to talk about a specific area in the Southern Hemisphere. I chose to do mine on Brazil, because Brazil is a beautiful place with amazing scenery and spectacular tradition.

But, then again we still had 3 weeks, so I could wait some time. So, I skipped to going to YouTube. I searched through all the new videos in my subscriptions and found a few Shane Dawson's, some PewDiePie's, a couple of CutiePieMarzia's, and a bit of Lisbug's.

I watched 'em all and shut down my laptop. I brought back my bowl to the kitchen and went back to my room. I plopped down on my bed face first. I lifted my head and smelt something kind of like my mom's perfume. I put my head back down, and screamed into it, calling for mom. But it kinda came out like "MAAAAAAAAAFFFMM!"

She walked into my room, curious as to what I was screaming about. I sat up and asked her why the house smelled like a flower garden. "

Well sweetie, I didn't want to tell you this, but." mom was trying to explain.

"But we're moving. To Florida."

I was shocked. Not in the typical, i-can't-believe-we're-moving-i'm-gonna-miss-this-place-and-my-friends-and-everyone-at-school way. But a i-hate-all-my-friends-and-everyone-at-school-and-i-wanna-get-the-heck-outta-here-as-quick-as-possible way!

I was so excited to move to Florida, I could barely hold myself from screaming in glee, but I managed to not scream. I just looked at her and said,

"Oh. Okay. When do we leave?".

"Next week." She said. "

We need to get the house and everything ready by then. That's why I made the house smell good. So some family can buy the house."

I was so freaking excited to leaved this awful place! Just you wait people of Grant Junior High, you're not gonna wanna mess with me when I'm done with you.
