TW: ABUSE
Rome's Point of View:
I walked inside because I had to clear my head for a bit. I couldn't stop thinking about that night with Allan ever since Axel said he whipped Decker with an extension cord.
Flashback to Nine Years Ago:
Decker helped me place Kaz and Indy down into the playpen
"Shhhhh"
I whisper with my finger over my mouth. I knew if they made noise they would draw dads attention and I would get blamed. He was drunk and already angry at Axel for bringing him a warm beer.
I turn to Decker with a serious look on my face.
"Go to your room and don't you dare come out. Don't try and be a hero, Decker, you hear me?"
He walked away without saying anything. I wish I could take my own advice but I knew sticking up for Axel was apart of my job as his older brother even though I was scared shitless. I turn the corner into the living room only to see the situation had escalated.
(Axel) - "It's not my fault you drank all the cold ones! There was a twelve pack in the fridge and you drank them all! You needed to be cut off anyways!"
He can never keep his mouth shut, can he?
Axel was going to continue telling Dad off but then Dad stepped forward and shut him up real quick. My heart ached for Axel. The amount of fear he had on his face was gut wrenching.
(Axel) - "Dad I-"
I saw Dad pick him up by the collar of his shirt, lifting him off the ground. My body flinched at the sound of my Dad's palm striking Axel's cheek.
Thats when I snapped. I started screaming as loud as I could.
"Why would you do that? You've already earned the title of shitiest father no need to try and one up yourself!"
I was running toward Axel who was crouched in the corner but I never made it there to comfort him. My dad started beating me with an extension cord that was laying on the coffee table. He didn't care where he was hitting just cared that it hurt. Soon the cord wasn't enough for him and he started punching and kicking me. I looked up to see Axel and Decker holding eachother in the corner pleading for Dad to stop. Thats the last thing I saw before I got knocked out by his work boot.
When I woke up I was in the bathroom floor covered in bloody welts from the cord and bruises from his steel toe boots. The door was slightly cracked and I could see into the babies room. Dad was giving Indy a sip of his beer.
(Allan) - "There you go baby girl, drink up."
I tried to get up and save her but I was too weak. I ended up with two broken fingers, a broken arm, sprained wrist, and a concussion. That day I vowed to never let that man hurt one of us again.
Back to Present Day:
I later found out that my three brothers all got spankings for my behavior that day and Indy had almost a full bottle. We believe she has a learning disability from it but don't have enough funds to get her seen by a specialist. He broke who I was that day. I haven't smiled since, I work out alot because I'm afraid someone will over power me, and since that day that man was no longer dad, he was Allan, the one who paid the bills and nothing more.
My trip down memory lane was cut short when I saw Decker walking across the hall with his phone in his hand.
"Cough it up."
I say extending my hand. Surprisingly he gave it up without a fight well other than an eye roll but I decided to let that go unnoticed. I looked at him for a second than gave him a hug. He's never liked hugs but he embraced this one.
"I know its tough but Axel just wasn't sure what else to do. I don't know what to do. You've gone on a downward spiral and we've tried everything. As much as I hate it I think this was good for you."
I walk away not wanting to see the look of betrayal on his face and head to Axel and I's room.
