Decker's Point of View:

It wasn't long before I had Kaz sleeping on my shoulder and Indy asleep in my lap. I didn't dare move this was their one moment of peace and I didn't want to take that from them. I tried to look outside for street signs and roads that I recognized but most of them were hard to make out in the dark.

(Ashley) - "I just now realized I never properly introduced myself to you, my name is Ashley." I didn't say anything. There wasn't really a point in small talk.

(Ashley) - "Care to tell me yours? I know it's either Kaz or Decker, but I'd rather not play the guessing game." She stared at me through the rearview mirror.

"What does it matter to you?" Why would I tell the person who took me away from not only my family but my pregnant girlfriend my name?

(Ashley) - "I care about every case I take on. I'm going to figure it out sooner rather than later but I figured it's your name and that you would want to be the one to share it."

"Seeing as you think we're just a case then why don't you start calling us by the case number and fuck off."

(Ashley) - "Don't talk to me that way. You can play tough guy all you want, but with two kids sleeping on you it kind of gives you away. But that's okay we're going to be seeing a lot of each other these next couple of weeks and if you want it to go as smooth as possible you're going to have to open up some. We're only a couple of minutes away from Indy's foster family, do you mind waking her up?"

"I'll carry her inside, no need for her to wake up. I want to talk to them though." I knew that when she woke up she would put up a fight and I don't want that to be her first impression on the people taking care of her.

(Ashley) - "Talk to who?"

"Whoever's house she's staying in." If I couldn't stay in the house with her I was going to make sure the people who lived there were good people.

(Ashley) - "That's up to them but I don't see any harm in that." With that we turned into Sarah Oaks one of the nicer neighborhoods around here. At least they were rich I though as we turned into one of the driveways. I had never seen such a nice house. It was two stories tall with a three-car garage you could tell they took pride in their curb appeal as all the bushes were neatly trimmed and the grass was freshly mowed. Sarah Oaks was known for the amount of land each house sat on most of them having cattle or horses.

I gently pushed Kaz off of my shoulder and up against the door of the car. There wasn't really a need to wake him up either. With that I sat Indy up off my lap and with some maneuvering I was able to get out of the car and pick her up without her waking up. When I turned around there was already people standing on the porch. Ashley had gone up to greet them.

"I love you Indy." I whispered in her ear as I walked up the steps of the porch. It was a man and a woman. The man had a long beard and a bald head he was around five or six inches taller than me. The woman that stood next to him had a sympathetic smile on her pale face. She had brown curly hair and was significantly shorter than the man.

(Ashley) - "This is Don and Vickie. I've placed quite a few kids in their care, each kid had nothing but good things to say about them. I promise she's in good hands." She reached over and gave my arm a squeeze, Ashley seemed genuine, but you could never be too sure.

(Vic) - "Please, call me Vic no one calls me Vickie. I heard you wanted to talk to us, do you want to keep Indy in your arms are go lay her down in bed for the night?"

"I don't want to risk her waking up, mind if I lay her down?" I honestly couldn't bear the thought of having to tell Indy goodbye if she woke up.
