Decker's Point of View:

I woke up to the awful sound of an alarm clock, it wasn't mine that's for sure. I reached over to check my phone for the time, it read 5:30 in the morning. I was told we didn't leave the house until 7:00. What idiot wakes up this early? I started looking around to see who the culprit was, Reason was throwing on some shorts and a hoodie. Where is he going? Once he got the hoodie over his head he left, my thoughts were interrupted by Jude.

(Jude) - "Don't worry about it, just go back to bed. He goes on a run every morning to help blow off steam or something like that." His voice was groggy and unamused. If only it were that easy. If I'm up I'm going to be up for the rest of the day. I got up and walked out, I figured I would check in on Kaz. Knowing Kaz was sleeping peacefully gave me peace.

After staring for a while I left to ponder downstairs in the living room, after all I had nothing better to do and this would probably be the only quiet I get for the rest of the day. I had a lot to think about, I was becoming a dad to two, I have no clue when I get to go back home, and today is the day mom died all those years ago. I don't know what it is 364 days out of the year I miss her but on October 9th I just get so mad. She made the conscious decision to leave us, in a way she's the reason dad became a monster. It wasn't long before my thoughts were interrupted, in a house with nine people prolonged silence was almost impossible to achieve. It was Keith and Brian walking in with their morning coffee.

(Keith) - "Good morning, Decker. You're up early." It was more of a question than an observation, and that pissed me off.

"And? What does it matter to you?" I'm not a morning person, and my tone didn't do a very good job of hiding it. Not that I was really trying.

(Keith) - "I wasn't trying to pry, I just didn't know if there was something wrong that you needed to talk about or if you're just an early riser."

"Fuck off." I should probably find a better phrase to use but that one just sort of rolls off the tongue.

(Brian) - "Decker, we have given you plenty of warnings about your attitude and choice of words. Maybe it would be different if you were provoked but you weren't, there is no reason for this hostility. When you get home from school today I expect you to finish your homework and come find me. You'll be writing lines in hopes of correcting this behavior."

"Yeah, okay." I said as sarcastically as I could. Reason walked in, interrupting our lovely conversation.

(Reason) - "Morning, has Oliver come down yet?" Brian and Keith shook their heads no, Keith's eyes still locked on me.

(Reason) - "Okay good, I'm going to go shower then but if he comes down before I'm done tell him I'll help him with breakfast in a minute." He walked up the stairs, leaving me to face Brian and Keith.

(Keith) - "Listen Decker, I know you are going through a lot right now. I can't imagine what is going through your head as you try to process it all, but we have to establish some sort of understanding. We are not out to get you, we are here to help. With your dad not signing the papers you are going to be here a little bit longer and it would make it a lot easier on everyone if you would start to behave. At the end of the day it's your choice, you can act right or we can do this whole power struggle thing until you choose to act right."

Man, he knows just what to say to piss me off even more. "Go outside, find a giant stick, and shove it up your ass." Harsh, I know, but I was fed up. I played the part of being a role model yesterday for Kaz but that was a one time thing. I got up and tried to leave but Brian grabbed my arm.
