In a swift motion, Luka turned, his golden eyes flaring with determination as he confronted Arlo. The playful smirk that crossed Arlo's face only fuelled Luka's resolve as he jumped forward, trying to protect his mother by mimicking Arlo's posture.

Suddenly, Arlo transformed before their eyes into a massive midnight-black wolf, a figure of strength and majesty. As the change occurred, Luka instinctively shifted into Beau, matching the midnight hue of his father and circling him, emboldened.

Karol gasped at the transformation in the room, the atmosphere crackling with energy as her son became Beau. Christian's presence transformed into Arlo, and the sight tugged at her heart as she watched the two majestic beings in front of her.

"Beau, darling, can you please change back?" his mother urged, her voice tinged with urgency as the furniture around them began to shift under the gravitational pull of their transformations.

Beau, refusing to back down, continued to shield his mother, snarling at Arlo, demanding he revert to his human form first.

Arlo growled back, asserting his dominance and the tension escalated until his mate stepped between them, hands on her hips. "Stop it, both of you, or I'll walk away and leave you for good!"

At the sound of her firm command, both father and son instantly changed back, the air clearing as they complied without hesitation. However, Christian found himself shifting back into his wolf form almost immediately, asserting his own presence.

"Good boy," she murmured, lifting Luka into her arms and shielding his naked form with her body. When her gaze met Arlo's, she glared at him, causing him to whimper slightly.

As though on cue, everyone else slipped out of the room, leaving the three of them in a cocoon of familial chaos, their own world of bonding.

Once they were alone, Christian shifted back into his human form, standing there, a naked embodiment of vulnerability and strength before his mate, who averted her eyes, instinctively covering Luka's eyes from his father's nudity.

An awkward silence enveloped them until a soft knock broke through. Christian edged towards the door, opening it just enough to grab his clothes, hurriedly donning them before turning back to face his family.

Standing before his mate, he offered her his shirt to cover their son. She seized the fabric roughly, her gaze piercing deep into his dual-coloured eyes, a reminder that both he and Arlo were present at that moment.

After carefully draping the oversized shirt over their son, an unexpected question rasped out in his deep, comforting voice, sparking an involuntary shiver down her spine.

"Since when can he change into his wolf form?"

"Recently. Why?" she queried, her brow furrowed in puzzled curiosity.

"Baby girl, tell me the exact date."

"Stop calling me that. It was last year on his fourth birthday. Now can you tell me why and what's wrong?"

Her gaze shifted to Arlo, tightening her protective hold around their son as he nestled closer to them.

"Can you please tell me the exact date? Please."

"He was born on the crescent moon month, yes, the very exact crescent moon after the full moon, at midnight sharp."

The weight of these words crashed down upon Arlo, leaving him momentarily stunned; in a panic, Karol instinctively gripped his arm, her heart racing.

"Why?! What's wrong?! Tell me, Arlo, what's wrong?"

The contact sent a jolt through them, causing both to lock eyes in shock before she quickly withdrew her hand, scooping up their son and stepping away. Yet, in a heartbeat, he enveloped them both in his embrace, his warmth enveloping them like a protective shield.
