Sooo this was one of the few Au that's I have but done nothing so I'd decided to pull this Au out of the cupboard. Don't we love the cabinet? It's full of beautiful ideas that I'd haven't used yet and use it to make my life easier, soooooo it's time for some trigger warnings that aer in this Chapter lmao-mentions of the abuse/shown abuse and self-deprecating thoughts/self-harm, Somewhat graphic violence, PTSD mentions Panic attacks, Discrimination, Mental illness mentions/shown, Drug talk and Damian being himself, Mentions of possible past self-harm. Just skip paragraphs 2-4 if you don't want to read it.
Time for a disclaimers:Neither belong to me. I am simply borrowing the characters for fun and writing practice because I'd need to some for getting my original book written in time for the end of next year.
Just a little note, I do eventually plan on having some crossovers from other franchises once we get into UA so i'll be added once we get to that part of the story.
Additional Note! From this point forwards, Midoriya's dead name will be addressed with a strikethrough, as you can't exactly avoid dead naming, especially with people who knew her before she was confident enough to be identified as a girl, or are unaware of said identity. I figure it is more accurate to real life than just censoring it with a * symbol or the like, but if you disagree, please let me know, and I will consider changing that.
I don't intend to have conversations with Zu's mother be the most awkward thing ever to write, it just tends to happen. Maybe it's a reflection of my own personality? Not sure on that.
Also if you see () in the story it's the character thinking so you know what that is happening just thought I'd give you that information and the only things that'll be mine are the OC's, and most of the story's plot is mine, but we do eventually get into MHA plot for sometimes also because of my dyslexia so plz tell me if and then I'll write the words wrong so it's easier for everyone to read I'd appreciate it but whatever the show must go on)) *¨*•.¸¸ପଓ*¨*•.¸¸ପଓ*¨*•.¸¸ପଓ*¨*•.¸¸**¨*•.¸¸ପଓ*¨*•.¸¸ପଓ*¨*•.¸¸ପଓ*¨*•.¸¸*¨*•.¸¸ପଓ*¨*•.¸¸ପଓ*¨*•.¸¸ପଓ*¨*•.¸¸
Zu hadn't been planning on hiding Exhibition Day from Mama, she wasn't dumb enough to think that the Bakugou parents wouldn't bring it up during their regular dinners together, since there was time for one or two of those between now and the match. However, she wished she hadn't been caught off guard by the school staff (yet again). It would have been nice to bring the topic up herself, after all, in a controlled environment with everything meticulously planned. That being said, of course she would set the record straight when approached. "I had a flier to show you at dinner tonight in my backpack along with the tickets, Mama. It's for Exhibition Day, a special thing they do for the last day of the school year."
Mama had her arms crossed, which meant she wasn't pleased with whatever was going on, although Zu wasn't sure just who she was upset with. "I wasn't accusing you of hiding things again, if that's what you're trying to get at, although I will admit I had a few questions relating to you."
Well, two could play this whole 'vague and mysterious' angle, Zu figured, crossing her arms just to match. "Alright, shoot."
Mama's eyes narrowed a bit, understanding the joke. "Well for starters, how long have you been going by Zu instead of Izuku at school? Do you want me to refer to you as such in the home as well, if this is something that you wanted them to address you by?"
Ah, well at least that didn't reveal the gender bit yet. The Practical Exam lie was still too fresh to poke at like this. "I've been asking them to use Zu for a while now, although the school staff never cared to follow it until I stopped being a disappointment in their eyes," Zu insinuated, knowing her mother would get the hidden meaning. "Zu can't be abbreviated as 'Deku', after all, and I'm sure you understand why I wouldn't want that name following me at school all day. You can call me Zu if you want, but if not, I'll understand, given that you were the one to name me in the first place." She didn't want to push the issues so much when it was framed as a personal choice, that would just cause suspicion.
