Chapter 8 "Broken Memories"

(This is kind of just a silly little coming out comic, lol. Mostly head canon and not au lore :D)

Wally woke up first, as was his habit. He got up, slowly slithering under Barnabys arm, which was wrapped around him in his sleep. And walked around a bit, he looked in a mirror that was hanging on the wall and realized that all his personal belongings were still in Home. Yeah sure, his friends that did manage to get their stuff and shared their clothes, but Wally didn't have his brush (or his 80 millions gallons of hairspray) so his hair was down droopy, and by his standards, messy.

Wally was very self conscious about his hair and couldn't stand it being down. Suddenly Barnaby said "Wally?" Which startled him a bit and he jumped, "Gah!" he turned "oh hi Barnaby" he said, forgetting about his hair problem for a moment. "I like you hair!" Barnaby said walking over and straightening a lose piece of hair. "Really?.." Wally said softly. "Mhm!" Barnaby Said, going over to see if the others were awake, which by now they were.

Everyone slowly got up, Julie walked over and carefully inspected Wallys hair. "You look like a girl!" Julie said happily, for some reason, unbenounced to her however this triggered a very broken memory of Wallys. He backed up a step, "Uhm.. Wally?" Julie said, this got Franks attention. "Are you ok?" Frank said walking over and stopping just behind Julie. "I'm sorry if that offended you Wally!!" Julie pouted, "If it helps I think your a very pretty girl!" Julie said frantically trying to fix her mistake. "Julie, I don't think he likes to be called a girl at all.." That word, girl rang in Wallys ears like a gong, he covered his ears and backed up further until he hit the counter, a jar a pickles shook and fell off the countertop, luckily Howdy caught it with one of his four hands.

"Wally?" Howdy asked, "is.. everything ok?" Wally looked up and ran out of Howdys shop and hid behind a fruit stand. Barnaby ran out of the shop, "WALLY WAIT!" He said, stopping. He knew if he didn't see him run around a corner he must not have gone that far. Barnaby turned around and closed the door, then turned back and said "Wally, if you can hear me.. Please come out, or let me talk to you. Julie didn't mean what she said, she just liked your hair, please come out." Barnaby stood there waiting on an answer.

Suddenly he heard quiet sobbing. "Wally?.." He said, turning towards the fruit stand Wally was hiding behind. Barnaby bent down and crawled back behind the stand with Wally. "Hey buddy, what's wrong?" Barnaby said. Wally just covered his face and looked down. Barnaby looked at him and gently put a hand on Wallys cheek, Wally flinched as he always does and looked up. Barnaby starred at him, "Please." He said softly, "You can trust me. What's wrong?.." Tears swelled in Wallys eyes and he leaned his face into Barnaby and wept. When he finally stopped he sniffled and looked up.

"I.." Wally said, looking at Barnaby. "I'm trans.." He said quietly, covering his face after he said it, immediately regretting it. Barnaby starred at him, and stuttered "W-what!??" Wally started to cry. "I know.. I'm a freak ok? I'm a girl, and I'll always be one.." Wally said softly. Barnaby grabbed Wallys shoulders and hugged him. "THAT'S AMAZING WALLY!! I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!!" Barnaby yelled, wagging his tail. "W..what?" Wally said. "You're not.. mad, or freaked out..?" Wally asked. "Heavens no Wally!" Barnaby said. "I'm so proud that you were able to say that. I accept you fully Wally! If you'd like to be a boy then you'll always be a boy. As long as your happy." Barnaby said, letting him go and smiling. Wally started to cry, happily this time.

Barnaby stood up and reached out a hand for Wally. Wally grabbed it and allowed Barnaby to help him get up. They walked inside and Julie ran to hug Wally when she saw him and everyone else looked up or walked over with Julie. "I'M SO SORRY" Julie wept. "No! it's ok.." Wally said, "It's my fault, I should've told you all sooner.." He said, looking down slightly. "Told us what?" Julie asked. "That.. uhm.." Wally paused looking at Barnaby. Barnaby gave him a nod of reassurance, and an adorable tail wag, so Wally continued. "That I'm trans!" Wally said happily. Julie covered her mouth and jumped up and down joyfully. "OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!" She shouted. "Woah-" Frank said, "Unexpected to be honest." Wally smiled at the comment.

Poppy walked over and put a hand on Wallys shoulder, "congratulations little guy!" She said. Julie gasped and yelled "TRANS BESTIES, I CALLED IT!!" Then she ran over and Eddie sighed, handing her 20 bucks from his wallet. Wally looked confused. "What?" He asked. Poppy looked down, "you didn't know?" She asked. "About what?" Wally responded. "I'm trans too silly!" Wally looked puzzled, "Wait really!?" Poppy smiled, "Yup!" She said happily. "That's awesome!" Wally said! "Now where was I?" Howdy interrupted, "Oh right." Howdy pulled a can of hairspray out of the space behind the counter and tossed it to Wally, he caught it. "Nice catch lil dude." Howdy said. "Thanks" Wally responded, "But I don't think I'll need this.." He said and smiled at Barnaby.
