Chapter 10 "A Dream Come True"

Wally was wearing a nice outfit that Sally had sewed him, and his hair was done up all nice, thanks to Julie. He looked up at Eddie who was fixing Wallys tie and frowned "Are you.. Sure this will work?" Wally asked. He was a little embarrassed but was thankful his friends were helping him. After all he couldn't do this all on his own. Eddie finished with his tie and said "Perfect! And of course this will work!" Frank walked over, "as long as you don't screw it up." Eddie lightly hit Frank on the head and said "Don't say that ya doof, you'll scare him!" As if Wally wasn't already terrified. "Look kid." Frank said, "We've helped you this much but its still up to you to tell him." Wally sighed, "I know." Julie put a hand on his shoulder and said "You'll be fine. Barnaby will be charmed out of mind!" Wally wasn't so sure about that. "Well.. If you say so." He said, unsure about this whole thing. Sally burst in and yelped "It's all set up!!! And Barnaby should be on his way." Wally jumped, "Huh!?" Sally looked at him and said "Yeah, we told him there was a really cool looking tree down in the forest." Wally looked confused, "A tree..? That's all you could come up with?" Sally frowned, "Look dude, you gonna tell him or what?" Wally blushed, "Yeah I am!" Sally grabbed him arm, farther up so she didn't touch his wrist, and dragged him out the door.

Once Sally helped Wally get all set up, she left so Wally and Barnaby could "Have some alone time😏" Or at least, that's what she said.. Barnaby turned the corner and saw Wally sitting on the blanket, "Wally?" Barnaby asked, "Watcha doin'?" Wally jumped and said "Oh! Barnaby.. hi!" Barnaby walked over and sat down. "You ok?" Barnaby asked. "Yeah I'm fine" Wally said. "So... what are you doing out here all dressed up sitting on a picnic blanket." Wally blushed, and looked away so Barnaby couldn't see. "I uh... was waiting for you" Barnaby looked confused and turned his head. "Me?" he asked, "Why?" Wally looked at him and said "I..." He paused and realized how red he must've looked. "I wanted to.. ask you to maybe, have a picnic with me?" He covered his face and Barnaby blushed, "Like a.. friend picnic?" Wally blushed and said, "N-no..." Barnaby froze and even he was a little red now. "Wally... Are you.. Asking me out?" Wally nodded and looked really embarrassed, but Barnaby just smiled "Well.. Yes." Wally looked up, "W..what?" Barnaby repeated it more clearly, "Yes I will go out with you." Wally blushed and jumped up and yelled "Really!?" Then slapped a hand over his mouth and blushed. Barnaby giggled, and Wally smiled.

TIME SKIP

Wally and Barnaby were laughing and watching the sun set behind the trees. "Wally..?" Barnaby said. "Hm?" Wally asked. "I'm glad you asked me.." Wally blushed, "oh uh.." he started, then watched Barnaby take a flower out from under his hat and hand it to Wally, "Because I was to afraid you ask you.." Wally blushed, "You were... Gonna ask me out?" Barnaby nodded. "I was to scared you didn't feel the same.. And after you showed me that picture, I felt like you.. Only wanted to be friends." Wally looked down. "I've always thought more of you than anyone else.. I'm just glad you feel the same way" Wally smiled. Barnaby leaned over and wrapped his arm around Wally. Wally closed his eyes and layed against Barnaby. "Hey Wally...?" Barnaby asked. "Yeah?" Wally said. "I know things are kinda crazy right now, and everyone's scared and doesn't know what's gonna happen, but.. If I could spend that time with you. that would be absolutely amazing." Wally opened his eyes and looked up, "What are you saying, exactly?" Barnaby looked over and covered his face. "I know we just went out, but if it tells you anything.. I'm scared too. I don't know what's gonna happen next. So.." Barnaby paused and Wally sat up and faced Barnaby. Barnaby looked at Wally and said, "Wally.. Will you uhm.. Be.." He sighed, "WILL YOU BE MY BOYFRIEND-" he said frantically, his words slurring together. Wally froze and was a blushing mess. He covered his face and Barnaby immediately felt embarrassed, "I.. I'm so sorry I didn't mean to yell I jus-" Wally interrupted Barnaby, "Yes.." Barnaby stopped. "W-what..?" Wally looked up and directly at Barnaby. "Y-yes.. I will." Barnabys tail started to wag and he desperately tried to stop it, but couldn't.

Wally giggled. Barnaby blushed and looked at the sunset. "Hey Wally.." Wally looked up, "Yeah, Barns?" Barnaby blushed at the word "Barns" and asked "Really? Barns?" Wally laughed, "Yeah that's what I used to call you when we first met." Barnaby shook his head and sighed while smiling. "Anyways.." he said with a slight smile. "Wally, I'm glad this happened." Wally smiled and blushed a little bit. "Me too..." Barnaby looked at Wally and Wally looked up at him. Wally looked confused about what was going on when Barnaby saidx "Wally.. I don't know what's going to happen next, and I'm so glad you feel the same way about me that I feel about you but.." Barnaby looked embarrassed and looked away. Wally looked at him, still confused. "Whats wrong?" Wally asked, "You.. look like you wanna say something?" Barnaby blushed and looked at Wally. "Wally, I'm afraid that if.. something happens I won't.." He paused and Wally put a hand on his shoulder reassuring him it was alright to say what he wanted. "I feel like.. If something happens, I won't get to do this.." Wally looked even more confused, "Do wha-" He was interrupted by Barnaby kissing him directly on the lips. Wally was a blushing mess and when Barnaby pulled away he felt like he was going to faint. "OH MY GOSH!!" Barnaby yelped, "I'M SO SORRY I-"
"It's ok..." Wally said "What?.." Barnaby looked at him. Wally blushed and smiled, "Thank you..." He said softly. Barnaby blushed and wrapped an arm around Wally, this time Wally didn't flinch.. He felt safe with Barnaby. He leaned against Barnaby and drifted to sleep. Barnaby wagged his tail and thought, "This is a dream come true..."
