Sonoma crawled through the darkness, clawing uselessly against cave walls.
We're doomed, she thought to herself. Aster was an enchanter, but he was full of self doubt. He could never do magic strong enough to carry them away with the wind.
She clambered out of cubby hole/tiny tunnel she had found, her hopes of finding an escaped dimished.
Aster was sitting in the corner, and when he saw her, his heart seemed to fall with disappointment.
The roars overhead had toned down for the time being, but it wouldn't be long before they were found and eaten if they didn't escape.
'Nothing?' Aster said gloomily.
'Yeah...just dark and stone' She slumped next to him.
'Maybe...Do you know any floatation enchantments?' He said after a moment.
Embarrassment overcame Sonoma. 'No...I'm not really that good at anything except some minor divination' She mumbled.
'I'm sure there's something you're great at, Commander' He wiggled his eyebrows.
'Commander?' She laughed.
He grinned, and an idea suddenly sparkled to life in his mind.
'Commander, look'
She turns to follow his gaze, and nearly sqeals with delight as she notices the puzzle of cubby holes lining the walls, leading upward.
'Well? What are you waiting for? Let's go!'
The two race forward, and Sonoma gets up first, she helps Aster up.
They sit overlooking their temporary confinement, and they laugh to themselves.
'We make a great team when worst comes to worst' Aster flashed her a smirk.
'Afterall, an enchanter such as yourself needs there Commander to lead them' She retorted.
'Now, big big problem time, we need to get out of this cavern' He sighs. Sonoma nods with a grim expression.
'Hey...What if-' She was cut off by a blast of flames flying past them.
They yelp in alarm, and turn to each other panicked.
They stood, and began to run. When suddenly, a large, monstrous creature emerged from the shadows, roaring menacingly.
The two mages screamed, and darted away.
Hiding behind rocks, and dodging flames, the two began to scheme.
Aster stood out from his Hiding spot, and tapped his heal three times on the ground, listening to the small thud echo around the cavern.
The creature bounded forward.
Just before it reached him, a loud coo caught its attention, and Sonomas familiar began to peck at its eyes.
Aster smirked, and the two ran for the small sliver of light dancing before their eyes.
And a moment later, the stumbled out into a forest clearing filled with sunlight.
The sun itself still rising.
The two look at each other, and hug like the word depended on it.
'Friends?' Sonoma said weakly, the adrenaline of the escape going down the drain.
'Of course, Commander' Aster replied in a smiling tone.
Then, they parted ways. After Aster gave Sonoma his number, that is.
