new beginnings
( na'vi ▸ italics )NÌNRRA SHIFTED FROM HER COMFORTABLE POSITION AT THE SOUND OF A BABY WAILING, HER EYES SLOWLY OPENING. She untangles herself from Neytiri who decided to be the little spoon, and unwrapped Jake's arm from around her waist. She stood up and held back a groan at her sore muscles. Nìnrra walked over to the bundle of cries and softly shushed him.
"Calm, Neteyam, calm." Her voice was soothing as she rocked the baby in her arms, the smile on her face breathtaking. When Neteyam was born and she held him for the first time, her heart burst and she doted on him immediately. Nìnrra's tail wagged slightly behind her, showing her adoring mood even more. When Neteyam quieted down, she sat down against the wall and held him while he sleeped, not even noticing herself doze off.
Neytiri awoke from her deep slumber and stood up with a stretch, sighing at the satisfying pop. Her eyes were tired from the long labor she had, and she was feeling exhausted. Her eyes instinctively glanced around the room and her herat jumped with awe. She crouched over the two, and gently took the sleeping baby from Nìnrra's arms, before waking her. "My love, you should sleep somewhere more comfortable." Neytiri whispered, as to not wake the baby in her arms or the other baby.
Nìnrra's eyes slowly opened and she smiled at Neytiri's hovering face, she didn't register her words, just admired her. Neytiri's face heated at Nìnrra's stare and she cleared her throat, walking away with her tail curled around her. Nìnrra chuckled at the sight and stood up, her joints protesting against the movement. "Eywa, my back. Why did i sleep there?" She muttered to herself while staring at a snoring Jake.

Nìnrra glanced at her mates in confusion, then to Grace's very pregnant body. She shifted a babbling Neteyam in her arms and watched the woman floating in the tube with wonder. "Fascinating." Jake nodded at her words and crossed his arms with a sigh. Neytiri grabbed onto Nìnrra's hand and questioned her mates on what their plan was. "We'll take her in, raise her as one of our own." Jake declared, nìnrra nodding along. She didn't mind one more cute baby.

After the baby was born, which Nìnrra decided to name Kiri, they could already tell how special she was. Nìnrra loved squishing her chubby cheeks and giggling along with her. Nìnrra may have lost a lot, but she got something beautiful in return, a family. Nìnrra crouched in front of her mates who were holding the babies, and stole from Neytiri's plate, ignoring her agitated hisses. She glanced up and watched Jake's face contort into a small smile, she couldn't help but do the same.

A very pregnant Nìnrra waddled around while having Kiri on her hip. She huffed as she finally made her way over to Neytiri, who was just as pregnant. They both got pregnant at the exact time, Neytiri's being just a couple of months earlier. Nìnrra was being extra careful, to not strain herself, but she couldn't help but hiss at Jake who was fussing over her walking. "Nini, I'm just tryna make sure you're okay." Jake sighed while he took Kiri from her arms who automatically fell asleep.
Nìnrra rolled her eyes, this being his millionth time expressing his worries. She wrapped her arm around Neytiri's waist and gently rubbed her belly, Neytiri smiling at her.

Nìnrra groaned as Leso'ha pushed Lo'ak in the mud once again, she walked over to them and helped a crying Lo'ak up. "Leso'ha, apologize to your brother." Nìnrra's voice was firm, and seeing no move to apologize she gave her a look. "Now." She hissed. Leso'ha whined and stomped her foot, the waterworks happening immediately. "Lo'ak said my hair was ugly!" Leso'ha pointed at Lo'ak and sobbed harder, Lo'ak joining. Nìnrra sighed and brought up her hand, silencing them immediately.
"You guys are siblings, family. You're supposed to look after each other, protect each other, not be the ones hurting you. Lo'ak, do you really think her hair is ugly?" Nìnrra smoothed down Lo'ak's hair as she spoke. Lo'ak looked down and slowly shook his head, Nìnrra smirked at his response." Good, because her hair looks just like your's." She then turned to a pouting Leso'ha, and gave her a stern look. "Sorry, Lo'ak. I won't push you anymore." The two twins hugged, and Nìnrra smiled at the sight.

Jake pecked Nìnrra's lips and brought her in a crushing hug. "I love you." He whispered into her ear, Nìnrra smiled and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. "I love you too, tstew." The air around them was peaceful, loving, and they reveled in it. It had taken Jake, nearly two years before Nìnrra finally reciprocated his love without holding back or hesitation. It had taken Nìnrra, a year before she finally connected to the Tree of Souls.
She wanted to let go of this pain, anger, and sadness. She knew the feelings would always remain but she didn't want it to consume her anymore. Connecting to the Tree of Souls, was just what she needing to begin her self healing. She reflected a lot and realised the hate she had for Jake, was just her projecting. Yeah, there was some of it that was his fault, but he had owned up to it and apologized many times. Nìnrra could respect that.
Of course, her feelings didn't subdue overnight, but she worked hard. And she could only thank the beautiful family she had now, thank Eywa for not turning her back on her, but making her stronger. She had a feeling she was gonna need it in the future.
