SONG: Hit me like a bomb ARTIST: Third Day
I close the door as I enter Jaylin's room. I see his eyes closed and hear him snoring softly. He looked like a child, so quiet and at peaceful. I tiptoed quietly over to his beside. He had been through a lot this afternoon. After his father told me to go see Jaylin, I could see that Madeline was watching my every move. She didn't like me at all and I could tell. It's not like I had done anything to her. I didn't really care for Jaylin either. It was just me following orders and that is all I was doing. Was there really a need for everyone to get mad because I was here?
"She will be here soon. Just wait a little more, Jaylin." I whispered to him quietly as I sat beside him.
Silya would be here tomorrow, wanting to see him. Why couldn't see that she clearly likes him more than she thinks. I didn't really want to get involved with them both. In my mind, if they really wanted to be together, then they should go for it. What is there to stop them? Was I here to be some sort of villain in their love story? If I was, then I started off playing the roll quite well.
I heard him mumble something in his sleep. He rolled over to the other side of the bed, drooling a little. I could feel myself chuckle a little. He really was like a defenseless child. His blond hair was sticking out all over his face. I glanced around the room and saw his wheelchair and his crutches leaning against the wall. The Headmaster had told me that Jaylin had learned how to walk with the crutches just a few days ago, but he had seemed so used to them, he was even running in them when I got to see him for the first time. There was no way that it was his first time walking, he was too fast for that. It.
"I'm sorry for doing this, Jaylin." I could feel my voice breaking a little. It was my fault for coming here out of nowhere just so I could follow my father's wishes.
"What for?" Suddenly, I see his grey eyes open and it startles me. Had he been listening this whole time?
"Um- nothing. You must be hearing things! Why would I ever say something so stupid?" I got off from his bedside. I watched him as he struggled to sit upright in his bed.
"I know you said it. I am not deaf, nor am I stupid." He manages to swing his legs over the edge of his bed. His eyes looking at the ground. His hair swung over his eyes and his shoulders stooped very low. His grey eyes meet mine. It looked like he was stuck in a trance. It was to someplace out my understanding.
"What do you want? I came here because the Headmaster told me to." I walk over to the corner and lean against the wall.
"You know what I want. First, I want you to be out of my sight. Next I want to see Silya. The last thing I want is for you to break off this whole marriage deal by speaking to both my father and yours."
"Not going to happen. But I will let you see that girl though. For five minutes only. Be grateful you get any minutes with her." I closed my eyes. His face would have surly been red.
"Thanks." Wow he is actually thanking me. It's better than I actually ever expected.
"Sure. Why did you say that though?" I narrowed my eyes and looked at him with suspicion.
"I think it's because it's better to see the person that you enjoy your time with for five minutes than no time at all. There's no way I would deny that." He smiled a little to himself.
He really likes her.
"So, what time will I get to see her? Tell me that it's soon," he pleaded, "I want to tell her thanks for all that she's done."
"Hold your horses, OK?" I walked toward him. "She'll here at noon tomorrow. Be ready."
"Thank you, Frica!" Before I know it, he jumps off his bed and gets his crutches then comes running towards me. He wraps one arm around me.
He's hugging me.
I stumbled backwards as I lose my footing. Why was he thanking me? I didn't do anything to help him. In fact, I'd say I was the reason behind this whole mess. Why wasn't he fighting back against me?
"Get away from me," I said trying to keep my act together while I shoved him off of me. "I still need my personal space."
"Oh, right," he backs away from me slowly and bends down to pick up his other crutch. "Sorry, I forgot about that. I didn't mean to make it awkward for you." He rubs hair and looks down at the floor. "I guess...I just missed Silya a lot. It's been messing me up this entire time, ever since she left earlier today."
"Is that so?" I turned my back. These two love each other, but they are too blind to see it.
"Let's be friends!" What? Friends?
"That's impossible, we're going to be married to each other." I looked at him, biting my lip.
"I'm against that idea. But, I want to be friends with you." He smiles at me, his grey eyes shining as brightly as silver. "You'll be my second friend! That's the most amount of friends I have ever had!"
It's so strange to see anyone so happy about having another friend. He was really strange. Silya is lucky to have him as a friend.
"OK, just make sure you're ready to talk to her. I'm only giving you five minutes. Remember that."
He nods his head eagerly, "Yes, I will. Thank you so much!"
I had to get out of here before any of my feelings surfaced. Damn, he was really something else. This guy was taking everything I had and taking it down. This was going to be hard. More than anything else, how was I supposed to act like I didn't care after the way he reacted?
"Yeah, yeah. Just make sure you're ready for tomorrow. Madeline will see you tomorrow before you do. I want you to be looking right, if your friend is coming to see you tomorrow. The Headmaster will bring you dinner. He insisted on it."
Jaylin looks down at the ground. "Yeah, sure. I want to talk to him too anyway."
The Headmaster had captured him for me. I had requested it. Not that I would be the one to tell Jaylin that I had told the Headmaster to do that sort of thing to his own son. I started to walk out the room before Jaylin stopped me in my tracks.
"I think we will become great friends, Frica. I apologize for acting the way I did before."
I nodded and quickly closed the door behind me quickly. Why was he doing this?
The only thing I knew for sure was that this guy had me at a loss for words.
He was the first one to do this to me.
How was I supposed to do my part if he kept throwing me off pace?
Boom! I better start running before it was all too late for me.
