Kirishima sat staring out the window, ignoring the math lesson Ectoplasm was spewing out. He was too busy watching a tree sway gently in the breeze, trying to distract himself from thinking about the worst-case scenario regarding Katsuki's situation. It's only been a couple of days, but he couldn't help but think that, at any given moment, someone would tell him the world shattering news. That his best friend and maybe more, died. There were so many things he didn't say that he should've, and now it might be too late. And it was all because he ignored his gut feeling and trusted his heart. Kirishima cursed himself for not being able to see through his lies, for not caring more. Kirishima didn't realize he had been crying until he felt someone place a gentle hand on his shoulder. It was Mina, she had a look of pity on her face, but when Kirishima lifted his head, she immediately began to smile.

"is Ectoplasm's speech really that moving?" she asked jokingly, giving Kirishima her best smile. Kirishima chuckled softly, wiping his tears. Mina's smile faded as she glanced to the front of the room to where Mr. Aizawa was standing, "You've been called to the office," she said to the table, and he could sense her fear. Kirishima never told her or anybody what happened, but Mina caught on. She squeezed Kirishima's hand as he got up, "I'll take care of your stuff, okay. Good luck." Kirishima gave her a faint smile and made the long walk to the front. It took everything he had to not just curl up in a ball and cry himself to sleep, to not just throw a fit and destroy a wall, gang up on Uraraka and Todoroki, kill them. Kirishima caught Deku's look on the way. He looked as nervous as Kirishima felt. His face white as a sheet of paper. He managed to whisper a shaky 'good luck' as the door shut.

Mr. Aizawa was leaning against the wall outside the classroom with his eyes closed. Kirishima closed the door and stood staring at the floor, trying to steady his rapid breathing. He's tried to look on the bright side this whole time, but there just wasn't a bright side anymore, not until he knew Katsuki was okay. Kirishima leaned forward, resting his head against the door, sobbing quietly. Mr. Aizawa placed a hand on his shoulder, pulling him in for a hug.

"It's gonna be okay, kid." He whispered in his ear. Kirishima stood sobbing into his teachers arms as he tried not to let his legs give out, there was a 50/50 shot that this was bad news, and no matter how many times he tried to think of the positive news, he just couldn't. Mr. Aizawa stood hugging Kirishima till he calmed down, and then the two made their way towards the principals office. Kirishima walked slowly behind Mr. Aizawaz watching the trees freely blow in the breeze, scattering their leaves and flowers over the stone benches. The benches him and Katsuki would sneak too late at night when he couldn't sleep.

"stop overthinking," Kirishima whispered to himself, "everything's fine." Maybe if he said that enough times, he might actually believe it. But the closer they got to the staff building, the more he began to freak out again. What's wrong with you? This isn't being a man. Whatever happens in there, you're going to handle it like a man. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. Kirishima angrily wiped his tears off, stood up straight, forced a smile, and followed Mr. Aizawa into the principals office.

He sat glancing around the rather boring and plain office. It had white walls, a purple floor, and a desk, with a window that was the length of a wall. It smelled and looked the way an empty office supply store would, its bright lights hurting Kirishima's head. It felt like an eternity waiting in the stiff, leather chair for whatever news was about to be told to him.

Kirishima stood up from his chair and bowed, greeting Principal Nezu when he walked in. The little mouse nodded his head, smiling and motioning for Kirishima to sit. The door opened again, and Kirishima assumed it was Mr. Aizawa, but he didn't turn around to check. He was too nervous about this conversation.

"If, if this is what happened to Todoroki, i.." Mr. Principal held his hand up, making Kirishima stop talking.

"What happened to Todoroki?" Kirishima sat looking at Mr. Principal. He knew that voice, he loved that voice. But it couldn't be, could it? A part of him wanted to turn around to see if it was, but then he didn't want to be disappointed. Mr. Nezu made a circling motion with his finger, and Kirishima turned around. His hand flew to his mouth as he started to cry, because right there in the doorway stood Katsuki. Alive and looking hot ad hell.
