Chapter 9

TW: ANGST, DEATH. SLIGHT GORE?//

It is the next morning and they all were packed up ready to go. Ao'nung and Neteyam had joined her to go to her village.

She would walk out her Mauri looking at all the people gathered around, She'd rub her eyes and head to her skim-Wing avoiding eye contact.

She mounted her SkimWing and glanced at Neteyam.. He seemed to ignore her..
"Are you ready Eyalu..?" Ao'nung asked.

She looked at him and nodded.

It took them a full day to get to the village..

She landed at the shore.. There she saw her villagers all dead on the ground.. With bullet holes through their chests, Arms, Heads.. Blood everywhere.

She collapsed to her knees letting out a painful scream.. Ao'nung and Neteyam walked over to her.. they dare not say anything.. They looked at each other..

She got up and ran checking every dead body hoping she won't recognize one.. Even children were brutally slaughtered.

Eventually she came across a familiar face.. The face of her mother.. she recognized her head piece.. Her face was bruised and bleeding.. She starting sobbing yelling painfully in agony rocking back in forth almost trying to wake up her mothers lifeless body..

Neteyam and Ao'nung stood there and watched her sob And Scream painfully.. It hurt their hearts to see her go through this..

"Mama..." She whispered cupping her mothers cheek..
"I'm sorry.. I'm so so sorry.. "
"I shouldn't have left you guys..!"
"Now your all dead!" She sobbed..

She zoned out.. her face went empty.. Her emotions numb.. she had no expression but tears were still flowing out of her eyes like a waterfall.. She gently took the head piece off of her mothers dead body.. she placed it in her pouch along with her fathers belongings and Little sisters..
Her sisters wrists bruised.. a bullet hole straight through her forehead..

She advanced up, she wiped her eyes..
"Let's go." She said emotionless to the warriors who traveled with her, They all couldnt Help but feel empathy for this poor girl.
She walked past Neteyam and Ao'nung.. walking towards her skimWing.

"Eyalu.. It's to late to go today we have to stay here for the night.." Ao'nung said.
"Stay here with my peoples lifeless body's?!" She sternly said not even looking back.
Ao'nung was left speechless..
"You may stay the night but I'm leaving!" She said mounting her skimWing.

They all followed her as they were ordered to keep Her safe by Tonowari and Ronal.

They journeyed all night with no break. No food. No water. Eyalu wanted to get out of there as soon as possible as she felt guilty knowing she didn't do anything to help.

They arrived back the next morning. Eyalu dismounted her skimWing and fed it some fish and untacked it. She didn't greet anybody or speak to anyone.. she went straight to her Mauri.

She laid in there for weeks staring at the roof of her Mauri.. She ate very little.. Drank almost nothing.. she just laid there daydreaming of her time with her family.. But she also was always thinking about one thing..

Why did Neteyam kiss me? Why is he now Avoiding me.. All boys are the same why did I think he was different.

She was caught up in that thought before Tsireya interrupted inviting herself in.
"Come on get up!" Tsireya said in a stern tone, Eyalu never heard this side of Tsireya before.. she was curious.

Tsireya lifted Eyalu to sit up.
"What is it?!" Eyalu whined.. her eyes were red.. her face was puffy and she had dark circles under her eyes.

" I'm sorry about your family.. But they would not want you to sulk all day everyday for the rest of your life!" Tsireya said comforting Eyalu.

Eyalu rubbed her eyes. "I'm not sulking! I'm mourning THERES a difference."
"You've been mourning for two months!" Tsireya said
"Let's go out tonight! There's a celebration with music.. food! All the things you like!" She said

Eyalu thought to herself.. "what kind of food..?" She said quietly..
Tsireya laughed at her. "Your favorite! And desserts tonight!"

"Fine.." Eyalu rolled her eyes. She was very good at hiding her emotions! Deep down she was hurt.. and confused, and angry! Sometimes she just wanted to punch Neteyam in the face!

Tsireya brought a bowl of cold water, A rag, Some tops and bottoms and hair accessories.
Tsireya gently wiped Eyalus face with the damp cold cloth to depuff her face and get rid of redness.. She combed her hair and Braided a few strands.. Eyalu had put on her mothers head piece.. She looked in the mirror and smiled at herself in the headpiece.. she missed her mother a lot.. She wish she had never left and passed away with them.

"You are gorgeous Eyalu!" Tsireya smiled.

"As are You!" Eyalu put on a Fake smile back. Though Tsireya could read right through her.. when Eyalu genuinely smiled her eyes would squint and her cheeks would be rosy.. Though this smile was not genuine..

Tsireya and Eyalu walked towards the party.. Tsireya went to dance with Lo'ak.. Neteyam saw Eyalu and was frozen.. her beautiful hair flowing in the wind.. Her posture strong and arrogant.. yet tired..Her face.. oh her beautiful face..

She looked at him and he quickly looked away and walked off avoiding her. She saw this.. it hurt her.. she didn't know what she did wrong.. She blamed herself.. she blames herself for everything that happens in her life..

Ao'nung approached her.. he tapped her shoulder gently.
"Hey Eyalu!"

"Hello Ao'nung." She let Off a smile..
"Don't worry I'm not here to pester you, Or try and win you over!" He laughed a bit, She laughed a bit aswell.. he was glad to see her laugh.
"I'm glad!"

"How are you?" He asked
"I'm okay.." she said looking down a bit awkwardly..
"That's good.. You know you should really leave you Mauri more often.. it's better for you mental health" he said

"Oh really? When did you become so wise?" She sarcastically said.
He laughed with her.
"I have always been"

It was quite for a moment.. to break the silence she just blurted something out.
"So have you any love interests?" She asked

"Not yet.. I'm keeping my eyes open and options."
"Good for you."

She glanced at Neteyam.. He was talking to other girls.. it angered her.. to think she thought he was different, But now all her thoughts had changed.. how can he kiss one girl and then immediately move on to the next! She rolled her eyes. She walked over to the food table and grab some food.

Neteyam had also went to the food table. They looked at eachother for a few seconds before Neteyam grabbed a snack and walked off quickly. It annoyed her! The fact he basically ghosted her after the kiss.. knowing she was going through a hard time in her life.

She grabbed a shot glass, Poured some Booze in it drank it all on one go. She was definitely a light weight so a shot or too had already made her drunk. She walked to the dance floor to dance with Her friends.

What she didn't know was the entire night Neteyam was watching her and only her. He was so madly in love with her but didn't know how to confront her after that kiss... he was nervous.. and guilty as he wasn't there for her when she was locked up in her Mauri Mourning.. he didn't know how to confront her so instead he avoided her.
