They decided to meet at the Benjamin Street near John's house. James was there at 10:00 p.m. as promised. He was waiting for Jack. Suddenly he saw an old man with white beard looking had muscles looking exactly like John Marshall!
John got very scared and tried to run! But a hand grabbed him from back
'It's me James!' said a voice
'Jack?' asked James in confusion
'Yes man! Calm down' said Jack
'Why on the Earth you have wore a costume like that? You scared me to death!' said James panting.
'I thought we might be caught so I wore a costume like this. So, people would think me as the ghost of John Marshall.'
After this they finally reached the backside of John's house's backyard. They climbed up by the water pipes, reached in the first floor.
'So where we are going to look for the mouse trap?' asked James
'The kitchen obviously! The most common place to look for mousetraps.'
They were searching all around the kitchen and found eight mousetraps with each has a unique numbering written on it.
The first mouse trap's numbering: 20 13 20 2 1 3
The second mouse trap's numbering: 8 15 18 25 7 8
The third mouse trap's numbering: 5 21 1 1 18
The fourth mouse trap's numbering: 19 9
The fifth mouse trap's numbering: 5 16 20 19
The sixth mouse trap's numbering: 8 20
The seventh mouse trap's numbering:1 9
The eighth mouse trap's numbering: 5
'What do you make of it?' said James
'Okay let us consider the number 1 as A, number B as 2 and so on do you understand?'
'Yeah'
They began doing it and they came out with an output like this:
The first mousetrap: TMTBAC, the second mousetrap: HORYGH, the third mousetrap: EUAAR, the fourth mousetrap: SI, the fifth mousetrap: EPTS, the sixth mousetrap: HT, the seventh mousetrap: AI, the eighth mousetrap: E.
'Now we have to arrange them in such a way that it makes sense.' said James
'Exactly' said Jack
'Let us write all the numbers in a sheet of paper.'
This was the strange output:
T M T B A C
H O R Y G H
E U A A R
S I
E P T S
H T
A I
E
'Leave me alone for two minutes.' said Jack
'Can I-'
'Out!'
After two minutes of deep thinking and analysis Jack finally got an output that made sense:
T M T B A C
H O R Y G H
E U A A R
E S P T I
E H S
A T
I
E
If it is written vertically the result was: THE MOUSE TRAP BY AGATHA CHRISTIE.
'We need to find the book.' Said James
They went into John's study but they found nothing.
'Someone has come here before us.'
'How can, you be sure?' asked James
'You see each stall has 25 books in it.'
'But the fourth stall has 24' said Jack
'Come on Jack, it can be a co incident.'
'No it cannot! Do not you see John has kept 25 books in every stall he has even compressed other book to make it 25 in each, it was his style, observe man!' said Jack furiously
'Calm down!' replied James
Jack suddenly in anger started throwing the books on the ground suddenly he noticed a book with a page open named: backside of the traps.
Jack again ran to the mouse traps and turned then he found the first mousetrap had written on the back of it:
In vertical order but horizontal has sense. First of the first below it also below it, one less than thirteen also the first of the first again, one added to thirteen, four too, of the Sirius's gift to Harry Potter in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire.
'What on the Earth we will do you Sirius's gift?' asked James
'Thunderbolt was the gift right?'
'Yes, Jacky'
'The first of the first that means T, below it means H, below it again that means E, one less than thirteen that means twelve which also means L, again first that is A, one added to thirteen that is fourteen that is N, four may be here D then only of the and Sirius's gift that is Thunderbolt, that means the land of the thunderbolt.'
'What does this mean?, let us go to his study again James, may I get another clue.'
They went again to his study James found a book India and Her States, James somehow got a feeling he might get something from it, then he started going through it thoroughly but very quickly. Then he found a page on Darjeeling. There was portion in the book called 'think' where the word Darjeeling came from.
'Easy' muttered Jack
'The name 'Darjeeling' came from the Tibetan words, 'dorje' meaning thunderbolt, originally the scepter of Indra, and 'ling' a place or land, hence 'The land of the thunderbolt' Holy Jesus, Darjeeling is the place. Why I did not think of it before.' James cried
'After all this Darjeeling?' said James, 'So when we are heading to India?' asked James'
'Do not get too excited, we still have questions, why they removed the book? The Mousetrap? Was that book where I noticed the writing back the trap was there co-incidentally? I do not think John had told them anything, then how or why they removed the book?'
'So what 'we do now?' asked James
'I suspect the gardener and servant of John as there was no sign of any theft, he can be the only one who can steal it.', 'If we go directly he will-'
'I know he might try to run, you go down by the window, cover the gate you will catch him if he tries to run.'
'Okay.'
Jack went to the gardener, he saw the gardener speaking on the phone''Sir, it is theeighth time you have called me today and I am tired of telling you I don't needany loan.'
'I need to have a word with you, Smith'
Smith cut the phone, 'Yeah! I was about to go to you only, what about mypayment I kept the window open give me 100 pounds.'
'You will get it but first tell me where is The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie.'
The moment Jack said Smith face became pale, his hand shivering he dropped thephone and tried to run. Jack chased him he was going to cross the gate butJames stopped him by pointing his gun at Smith's head, 'Do not try to move, I don'tlike much bloodshed.'
